Update! My Spalko Tokarev & My Toht P-38

Just got this off Gunbroker. Its a China made Norinco Model 213 9mm X 19 just like the one used by Cate Blanchett as Col. Dr. Irina Spalko! Take a look at the comparison picture and you will see that it's a dead ringer for the screen used gun. Exactly the same except the serial number!! The screen used gun is at the bottom. I will be doing the transaction next week so I should have it soon.

Since I already have all the "Indy" guns I'm now working on collecting the "Bad Guy" guns. I already have the Remington 1875 (Barranca) and the Walther PPK (Donovan), so next I am on the quest to find a Walther P-1 or P-38!

I was wondering when someone here was gonna pick one of these up - very nice. Aren't these chambered in a nearly identical round to the .30 version of the Mauser Broomhandle?

The Tokarevs are usually chambered for the 7.62x25 caliber round. All of the Soviet and Eastern European versions are chambered in 7.62x25. The Chinese guns, as imported by Norinco, were also made available chambered for the 9mm X 19 (standard 9mm round) for the U.S. market. Some were even sold with both barrels and 2 sets of magazines.

I'm not sure what the Mauser "Broomhandles" were chambered for. Perhaps someone can elaborate!

Ok did some research on the Mauser "Broomhandle".

The 7.63x25mm Mauser (.30 Mauser Automatic) round was the original ammunition of the Mauser C96, "Broomhandle", service pistol. The 7.63 mm Mauser cartridge was the basis for the 7.62x25mm Tokarev round adopted by the Soviet Union 30 years later. Although the case dimensions of the two cartridges are nearly identical, the 7.62 mm Tokarev has a stronger powder charge and is not suited for use in C96 pistols or other firearms chambered for 7.63 mm Mauser. However, the 7.63 mm Mauser could be used in firearms chambered for the 7.62 mm Tokarev.

So yes the original Tokarevs are chambered in a nearly identical round to the .30 version of the Mauser Broomhandle.

The ammo for the Norinco Model 213 9mm X 19 Tokarev is a bit different than the 7.63x25mm Mauser (.30 Mauser Automatic). Norinco, the People's Liberation Army's state weapons manufacturer in China, still manufactures a commercial variant of the Tokarev pistol, known as the Tokarev Model 213, chambered in the original 7.62x25mm caliber as well as in the more common 9x19mm Parabellum round. It features a safety catch, which was absent on Soviet-produced TT-33 handguns. Furthermore, the Model 213 features the thin slide grip grooves, as opposed to the original Russian wide-types. The 9 mm model is featured with a magazine well block mounted in the rear of the magazine well to accept 9 mm type magazines without frame modification.

Below you can see the difference in the ammo. On top is the 7.62x25mm Tokarev and on the bottom is the 9x19mm Parabellum.



That should help clear things up!

I really have no idea. A Russian soldier shouted it at me across the Internal German Border (back during the Cold War). I'm sure it's not a welcome greeting but it stuck in my head. I spelled it phonetically.

The Walther P-1 and P-38's were all over the surplus gun sale sites the past few months. You should be able to track one down for reasonable cost.

Well I found and bought my P-38! Another great GunBroker find. It's a Mauser made 1943 Walther P-38. It doesn't have matching numbers and it does have an import stamp, but at least it looks to be in real nice condition. Plus the price was right, got it for only $300.00!! I usually see these go for 2 or 3 times as much.

The collection seems to be filling out quite nicely. I'll post some pics in a few weeks when I have them all together.

Yeah, I was kind of amazed also. No one else even placed a bid. I'm figuring most people are looking for matching numbers and this one didn't have them. So I guess I lucked out!! Similar thing happened just a month ago when I won my Colt Official Police for $250. No one else even placed a bid and those I see going for around $400.

You got a great collection there my friend alphared6! I'm really envious of your Luger as that is the next one im shooting for. (pun intended!) Since you have them all numbered you may want to reveal their identities to those of us that may not recognize all the wonderful specimens you have collected.

It's great collecting these little gems of history. I just wish they could all talk and tell us the adventures they may have experienced!!
