my 'go to' fed
100% beaver western felt. yup, i know what you're all thinking....that looks just like the other hats you've made on your 'ohio jones block'.......but here are the things that don't really jump at yah:
- she's an unturned, unflanged hat.....no fuss, no muss. i've always wanted a good 'waterfall raiders'
- well, it's the first beaver felt i've made on this block
- i've spent extra time molding the hat body to the block which will hopefully stabilize the felt further
- i've tried a different pouncing iteration in unison with ironing this time through and i'm pleased with the results
- sweat construction and sewing was executed flawlessly (though it took about 2 hours to sew her in)
- further tack stitches on the ribbon......it's not going anywhere
- and the creme de la creme is a bow that i'm quite proud of. that's basically what i enjoy most about this hat
enjoy the pics and thanks for looking. this guy has gone to mexican beaches with me so far and i hope to show her off to mr. nowak in a couple of weeks.
my favourite bow yet:
and a couple more.......

Re: my 'go to' fed
thanks for the kind words folks i've shown this hat to ohio and hatch initially just cause i thought that the stuff you couldn't see in pics was more important than what you could see.....then i thought i'd share it to the community to see if anyone wanted some info on my obsessive-compulsive construction details .
every hat i make, i gauge my satisfaction to the feeling i got when i received my CS AB.......typically if the feelings are comperable, it's a while before i make another hat. i don't think i'd have to make another hat for a while.......but then again, ohio jones is gonna get me a new 'toy' to play with soon
cheers,
g

Like everyone else here, I'm "WOWED" by this hat, G.
Excellent work!
And there's no arguing it... that bow of yours is just GREAT... Beautiful job on that in particular!
As always, can't wait until the day I get to own one of these babies...

I think I've got one somewhere. Somewhere being the key word, an item that small gets lost in the shuffle real quick.Indiana G wrote:only if you include the ribbon pin.....i've always wanted one of those!!

G,
As always it looks great!!! That felt looks so scrumptious. You knocked that one out of the park.
I am sure the stitching is flawless. What color liner did you put in it?? I would guess white....but you may surprise me.
The bow is fantastic!, but I cant remember where you said you could get that ribbon. Could you remind me.... Great job my friend. I can only imagine what that felt would look like on your new toy.
I must admit....I have one of those pins.....Ewwww. I took that sucker out the day i got it. What a Buttercup. I wore that DP out to snow blow and now it looks like a dunce cap..lol. Might think of re-blocking it just for grins.
Talk to you soon.

Looks great! Where did you get your western hat beaver felt, if I may be so bold as to inquire?
