My Last Shot with Wested

Post by Heyjude7 »

After recieving a few jackets that were not up to par from Wested in the past year, i decided to give Wested one more shot before moving on to another vendor.
In my latest jacket i only asked for a few extra things...
I went for a custom ROLA Size 40 in soft Goat
24.5in back length
25in sleeves
44in chest
back arm seam 1.25in below yoke
pointy collar like temple/idol grab
6.25in X 7.5in pockets
1 piece gussets
strongest thread in the shop
collar in the middle of stormflap
..the only thing i didnt get that i asked for is aluminum zip..they gave me bronze colored one
i just had rotator cuff surgery so i will post pics next week of me wearing it.
I love this jacket..it fits perfectly and is perfect weight.
please ladies and gents lemme hear some feedback on what you all think... sorry for the bad pics.. will try and get better ones
thanks for lookin

your very welcome my friend. No problem helping you with speccing out a jacket for you. (forgot to answer to your pm yesterday so I said it here.)

also, there is a rule about 6 pix per thread. please make the last one links.

the jacket looks really great from those pictures. and I really like how the pointy LC collar worked out on the raiders.

now lets see it on! :whip:

Heyjude, how does the new authentic 'soft' goat compare to the authentic goat from a few years ago it 'stiffness'......IF you or anyone else has any experience with the two different authentic goats......

this is my 3rd authentic goat this year and it is the best one so far..imho... its medium weight but super soft... i had an authentic goat from 3 years ago and it is similar to that one in thickness.. the color is perfect blend of dark n medium brown... hope that helps 8)

I've got one from 3-5 yrs ago and finally becoming soft and 'broken in' but took washing, sandpaper, beating it against drive way, Pecard's,etc to finally get 'some' of the 'hard shell' finish off.........they are tough

Awesome jacket! Looks like Wested did a good job for you! Can I ask what details you gave for the collar? Any specific neck measurements or anything like collar size, pointy measurements or anything?

i sent a spec sheet with pics and diagrams.. for the collar i asked for the correct collar/stormflap placement and for the pointyness of the last crusade collar.. my opinion the Wested raiders collar is too short and stubby and should be more pointed.. some jackets in raiders had pointy collars..a little bit of water and wear and i think my collar will be "the collar"

i had alotta help from a certain viking :H:

Cool thanks for the info. I'll make sure that I send some pics of what I'm looking for. Hopefully my Wested turns out what spec sheet says.

I think it's looking very good.

Very Raider's collar. Much more Raiders than LC I think. (I don't see the LC as being as pointed)

I hope Peter is reading this because I just ordered a custom jacket from Wested last week and this will be Wested's last chance to prove to me that they CAN make a good jacket from my specs.

Knibs, what's that old definition of insanity,......."doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"......... ;)..........but, hopefully they're paying closer attention to details, some competition is always good........ :-

ahh, yeah. Sometimes you can take something a tad too far, then are never able to take it back. Case in point, the buckle on my Todd's strap which I beat on the sidewalk, and that guy in Fresno.. I outran the cops but good though.

[just to be clear, I've never been to Fresno, or been chased by the police. Though, yesterday a cop was riding through my neighborhood while I was out for a walk.. I thought about busting into a run just to see what happened. :anxious: ]

yes it has. the temple jacket has 6'' cuffs while the raiders has 5.5'' cuffs.

the jacket looks great on you. a wee bit big in the shoulders and back..but you'l need that when the cold weather comes back!

.5" can be the difference between a tight or just right fit.

In many areas yes, definitely. This is the cuff end opening though. It isn't a huge difference there.
