Yes I love mine! I purchased them last year shipped fast. Also I took them to Nordstroms had them do the military hem. It's up to you don't let me be your final answer.

Re: Wested pants ?
They are absolutely fantastic!
However make sure you get your measurements right. I was a little optimistic on my measurements and I now find them very hard to get into...
Go for larger rather then smaller what you usually wear.

Re: Wested pants ?
The Wested pants are great! I love mine. They are quite thick, so are not incredibly comfortable in warm climes, but are very durable. The back pockets are pointed like they should be, and I think the color is GREAT. There is a thread on here somewhere that compares 4 of the major pant makers using photos. You might want to track that down.

Re: Wested pants ?
I didn't know there were that many pant makers out there for the Indy pant.
Re: Wested pants ?
This is very frustrating. I know somewhere on here someone had done a side by side comparison of several types of pants, including Magnoli, Wested, and Noel Howard, and at least one other, but I can't find that thread. At any rate, from what I recall, most people will say that the Wested pants are build excellently, but that the color might be a TOUCH off. I would say if anyone calls you out on it, however, they deserve a slap!

Re: Wested pants ?
I also have a pair of Wested pants: LOOK HERE!
In few words: I'm very satisfied of my Wested pants. Great material, very soft and comfortable. And very good color that change from grey to pink-brown depending on light, like the pants in the movie (you can see this in my gallery).
But I've noticed that my rear pocket flaps are more rounded than the one from Indyzane...Indy, when you've got your pants?
I've ordered it at the end of December and received in middle February.

Re: Wested pants ?
Hey All,
Just so we're all clear here, Wested by all acounts are nice, but not screen accurate. They have the wrong number (and placement) of belt loops, they have an attached waist band (instaed of a false waist band), the spacing on the pleats is wrong, the seam over the back pocket is wrong, and some of the seam types are wrong.
Kt. Templar says the color is really good and of course, the fabric is one hundred percent wool cavalry twill, so that's good. On the whole, no one is making accurate pants at this time. No one.
Search out Kt. Templar's excellent photos of the screen used pants for accurate details. And Moderaters, I still think those pants (and shirt) pictures should be sticky.

Re: Wested pants ?
I had to send mine back because they did not fit me as I had wished. I can only critisize the pattern on regards to my physical proportions. That being said, I found that the rise of the trousers in my waist size came up a little short. I'm 6 ft tall, and wear a 38 in jeans and a 40 in trousers. While they were on me and fitting, I kept trying to pull them up higher to where I normally wear a pair of trousers. I also picked up a pair of Noel Howard pants, and the rise in the pattern has a better fit for me. I wish Wested's cut would lean closer to Noel Howard's pattern. The Wested fabric is nice

My Wested pants (bought July 25th 2008) in comparrison with the screen used pair. There may be some slight differences in placement, but I count the same number of loops there

Re: Wested pants ?
Sorry Gwyddion, but I belive that your pants are NH and not Wested!
My Wested (ordered December 2008) have the wrong loop placement (no central back loop for example) and more rounded pocket flaps. In my opinion you've got a NH pair, maybe for a Wested error...

Re: Wested pants ?
Nope, it isn't a NH pair: it was bought way before they had the NH stuff and has the Wested labels in them.BazzanoJones wrote:Sorry Gwyddion, but I belive that your pants are NH and not Wested!

It is a pair of OTR pants and the lable says that they're 100% coton
But other than that they are just what everyone was recieving at the time.
So my guess is that the ones that have the wrong number of loops are the mistakes. That, or they changed the design again

I did do a search but could'nt find any pics plus I wanted to get an up to date opinion of the pants as they sometimes change designs.I don't see what the problem is, if everyone that wanted to know the answer to a question just done a search then there would'nt be many new posts at all.If you have already read a post covering the same subject then why not just not read this one.knibs7 wrote:THANK YOU!!!!!!!! It's time to ask KT!
Kt, do you know about any new Wested designs or there is a flaw in the design of some of the trousers that come out of the tailoring factory?
Thanks

Hey All,
I'm sending a piece of wool this week to a fellow in CA because his Westeds only have six loops, so gwyddion, if you got seven loops- great! Others were not so lucky. Seven belt loops, of course, does not answer the rest of the details I mentioned (and some that I didn't). I'll alow that they're nice pants. I'd go so far as to say they're very nice pants. I'm just saying: They're not screen accurate.

Re: Wested pants ?
I'm not arguing about SA, I just was amazed by the beltloop thing. This and the pocket-flaps realy amazes me as a few months before I got mine they changed the paterns to make it more SA (and I agree, not totaly SA, but better than they were before). The worst part of it is that they made paterns of the screen used pants I used in the comparrison, so why are people recieving stuff that is less SA then what was sent out before? They have the means to make absolute SA pantsAlkali Jones wrote:Hey All,

Hey All,

Having had the pattern and the screen used pants for some time, I'd love to know: Why aren't Westeds the most accurate pants ever? (Same question for the shirt.) Peter if your watching this thread, please, when will some of these issues be addressed? I'm working on making my own pants for this very reason.Good questions!gwyddion wrote:The worst part of it is that they made paterns of the screen used pants I used in the comparrison, so why are people recieving stuff that is less SA then what was sent out before? Re: Wested pants ?
I'm sure everyone here has wondered about that very thing. Of course this issue sort of stems off of the question about why aren't Wested's Raiders and LC jackets more SA if they had the originals, and yes before anyone says it, I know the patterns were lost, but still... I mean, they have the ToD jacket in their possession and they were able to perfectly copy it, so why not at LEAST do the same for the PANTS?Alkali Jones wrote: Having had the pattern and the screen used pants for some time, I'd love to know: Why aren't Westeds the most accurate pants ever? Re: Wested pants ?
I bump this thred because no one have answered to the mysterious Gwyddion pants fact: what kind of pants are they? Made of 100% cotton, with 7 belt loops and quite accurate pocket flaps. Are this old Wested pants? If no...what are they??!!
Re: Wested pants ?
They are Wested pants. I for one don't believe the "100%cotton" label inside them: They feel more like wool than like cotton. I could be wrong though.
It's like with the jackets though: according to the lables the "cotton" lining actualy is some kind of polyester blend
To me the big question is why those pants became so much less SA since then. I've actualy contemplated calling Peter about this but haven't to this date.

Re: Wested pants ?
I only ask why Gwyddion pants are so different from pants that Wested actually sell.
I think that is a very strange thing...or not? By now Wested don't sell cotton pants with details like the one Gwyddion own...so I simply ask why they had sell it to him? Are they the old Wested pants material/pattern? Just curious.
I don't remember that Wested had sold cotton pants in near past.
I've orderd mine few month after Gwyddion and my pants are the Wested standard (wool, with 6 loop and small rounded flaps)...

Well, if picture links weren't broken I'd show you that these were the standard around the summer of last year. They were nothing special either, just the OTR pants from the site.

Re: Wested pants ?
Those are wool pants - I think there may have been a problem with the label - perhaps it was from the cotton jacket and was sewn on the pants in error. Wool I tell ya, wool!
I too have the pointier pockets and my pants were from a few years ago - go figure.

Re: Wested pants ?
That's exactly what I was thinking as it feels and looks like wool. No way my pants are cotton like the lable says. I think it is safe to ignore the lable as it probably is just a matter of someone grabbing the wrong one when it was put in there.nicktheguy wrote:Those are wool pants - I think there may have been a problem with the label - perhaps it was from the cotton jacket and was sewn on the pants in error. Just to be sure I'll d do a burn test on one of the scraps left over from hemming: that's the easiest way I know to determine if something is wool or not. But like I said I don't believe they are actualy anything but wool.

Re: Wested pants ?
Yes, if this is the standard pants pattern few month ago the question is:
I've ordered jacket, shirt and pants from Wested...but I'm not pretty happy listening that the pants sold few month before mine are more accurate...
I relly don't understand that changes. And, like for the customs jackets, I think that is very bad to do every order hoping to obtain a good product...why there isn't a standard? Why they changes to a less accurate pattern for the pants (and, as people as said, this is still incomprehensible as they had owned the beautiful NH pants and shirts...)?gwyddion wrote:...why those pants became so much less SA since then.

Re: Wested pants ?
Ok, the burn test confirmed it: the tag in my pants is wrong.
It burned in bouts and gave off a smell of burned hair, so there is no doubt that it is in fact wool.

Re: Wested pants ?
I'm really disappointed about the Wested way to conduct their business: I've paid the same amount of money of Gwyddion but I've received a less accurate pair of pants!
Is this normal, in your opinion? I want to know what I'm going to buy, and not receiving this kind of design surprise.
Sad to say that, but I'm really disappointed about this story Mr. Botwright...really.

not to turn this into a jacket thread, but your statement isn't exactly accurate. They were able to correctly copy it after fan request for accuracy in certain areas. They are awesome pants!! They only quip I have with it is that the leg opening end is tapered a bit... I don't think the SA pants were tapered like that... Oh well, it could be just my imagination...

Re: Wested pants ?
Actually, if you watch closely, some of the trousers on screen in Raiders are tapered like the Westeds, while others stay wide like the NH pattern.
As far as sizing, I repeat yet again; my trousers fit the way they should. On size. 100% accurate. If you like huge pants, order up. If you like tight pants, order down.

Re: Wested pants ?
i got my pants last year ..they have 6 belt loops, and probably a bunch of other stuff not right about them ... i don't care they look like Indy pants too me and they are the most comfortable pants i think i have ever owned. I like the taper infact wested was the first company i came across. i asked for waht i needed and got my shirt, pants and jacket from there i have no complaints. i didn't need to modify nothing, i'm more than happy about it.

I think the Wested Pants are based on TOD trousers:
