OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
I am going to order my third and final jacket(?)
A TN is just too #### expensive for me in Australia....exchange rate is 70c to the US dollar.
So I am going with Peter. Now I know some have said that it is not polite to get him to copy another persons jacket....but I don't feel that way at all. And let me add that as an owner of two of Westeds....I am completely comfortable in his quality and workmanship, and may as well as have a UK trifecta.
So....
I have searched/read the threads....but would like everyone to point out one detail per reply.
I can start.....NOVAPELLE...
But then that raises my first question. Is it lightweight or not, I cannot figure it out.
I want a heavy durable jacket, I have a lamb...and it's great! But I don't need another soft light jacket.
My quest may lead me to a distressed Cow....but after that question....what other specifics do I need on my order

Well Peter did originally produce a jacket for CS along with others. TN got the project but Peter did make a great jacket intended for the movie. Why not get an original Wested as tendered - a bit different, but a piece of history. Go with Peter's original specs.
Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
I get a Peter's original specs too, Novapelle or Washed Goat

Novapelle for a CS:) its identical to the CS leather.
Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
I have to back up Dutch. Novapelle is virtually indistinguishable from the Nowak movie leather.

For a CS look I have been very tempted to try the copper novapelle, it looks a lot like the jackets people have been receiving.
However, regular NP with pecards looks very much like what you see on screen most of the time.
If you want to SA-up the Wested version, there are a few things to look at.
Collar move the edge of the collar 1/4 of an inch onto the storm flap, perhaps even 1/2". The Screen one overlaps the SF slightly.
Shoulder make sure it has the double stitch.
Seam back of the arm, no topstich, like the front seam.
Pockets, the straighter edged flaps with a sharp point rather than rounded.
Pockets about 2" from the bottom of the jacket.
Straps move higher... Wested's pattern have them quite low... you'll have to watch the film and see how they should line up with the pockets.
Bottom of the jacket... no hem stitch, he doesn't like to do this. (But pretty please!).
Lining, black, cotton or nylon, up to you.
That's about it. (And don't you dare tell him I told you all that, he'll kill me!).

Whipwarrior can you post a pic of your jacket I think your pockets are VERY screenaccurate.
Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
You got it. Here's a pic from last spring, the week that CS came out. It's a good close-up of the pockets:
And here's a shot of the whole front:

Whatever happened with Holt's Wested CS? He said he was going to ask for the non-stitched bottom. Did it ever happen?Bottom of the jacket... no hem stitch, he doesn't like to do this. (But pretty please!).

Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
The latest novapelle is darker than some of the CS leather IMHO. I recently ordered a copper and got something akin to off-black in color, but with some distressing it would look pretty close to the CS leather. If you want a lighter cowhide get Wested's distressed cow. I'm awaiting some comparison samples in the mail. The novapelle is of course more hefty than lamb, not heavy, heavy, but durable and substantial. You can do some searches for jacket leather weight comparison. The weights are listed for several leather jackets in one post.

ABSOLUTELY request that the collar meets the storm flap in the middle!!!! I have not seen a CS from wested yet that has that part right.

Hi Jeff!
On the CS jacket the collar does not go to the middle of stormflap!
It stops before the middle.

I got a Wested in Novapelle last year and it is not even close to the TN leather. I have pre-distressed cow from 03 that is closer. I got a per-distressed cow and novapelle within weeks of each other a month before CS came out and the looked the exact same. Maybe you guys got your jackets from a different batch.whipwarrior wrote:I have to back up Dutch. Novapelle is virtually indistinguishable from the Nowak movie leather.

Picky ,picky,picky..........Han, it's obvious that you and Whip just don't know the secret handshake for the club yet........Han Jones wrote:Dutch_jones wrote:Novapelle for a CS:) its identical to the CS leather.I got a Wested in Novapelle last year and it is not even close to the TN leather. I never was any good at secret handshakes. But Peter hooked me up, and I love my novapelle, so it's all good.
EDIT: I should have said visually indistinguishable which, at least to my eyes, it is.Novapelle is virtually indistinguishable from the Nowak movie leather.

Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
well the order is in.
I am yet to hear back about the order (which is FINE) to confirm all is well.
I guess I'll be happy with a reasonably SA jacket...I don't need 100% ......99 would be good though
Will keep you all informed of the progress.

Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
Ordered a week ago, and sent special requests along in a seperate email....
no response?
Last time I ordered an off the rack it was here in a week.
Is this standard wait time for a special order?????????????????????????

I'd email them. I've always gotten responses to my emails but rarely have I been emailed any info first (past an order confirmation statement).

You haven't received an order confirmation? That should have been almost right away after placing the order.Indiana Citroen wrote:Ordered a week ago, and sent special requests along in a seperate email....

A special order could be as long as a month before you get the jacket.

Re: OK I need the best details I can get for a Wested CS
no no no....I DO HAVE THE ORDER CONFIRMATION!
It's that I sent my "Special Requests" 2 minutes later via email....and I want confirmation that they have been recieved.
I am prepared for the construction wait....just want to know that I will be getting what I want.
I need to point out to that I LOVE WESTED!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, in my experience, unless you place all your 'special requests' on the initial order form, they'll often be forgotten.
Prepare for disappointment, although I hope that's not the case. Best thing to do, as always, is to call!
Emailing Wested is an exercise in frustration. Their phone service is much better.

Yes, even if they are confirmed by email, they may not happen. As KA said, call direct if there is any doubt, otherwise you'll find your jacket is cut and in production, and it's all too late.Kevin Anderson wrote:Sadly, in my experience, unless you place all your 'special requests' on the initial order form, they'll often be forgotten.
