they're the right pocket of 2 different jackets, one is one of the very first TN jackets that belonged to Chris King and the other is a newer one.

The 'differences' are mostly due to the photos.
There has been no 'pattern change' and those pictures don't show any pattern change. It's quite obvious.

Are you saying that the photo below is two pockets combined? If so, then those pockets are different. Do we know if the owners asked for something different from eachother?

The photo below is two pockets combined. Its pretty obvious all three jackets are photographed the same way..
He may have not changed the pattern but certainly the way he's making them.

Thanks...

Which two jackets are these? We should ask the owners if they had any modifications made One pocket flap is different than the other

The first one in the 3 pics lined up is that of Chris King. his is also the one in the combined pic because his was said to be a 1:1 copy of the "hero"

The third pic in the row is that of Raider S
The one in the middle and the second in the combine is that of Raskolnikov

So guys did any of you ask for something specific regarding the pocketflaps?

Dutch, there's already a thread about pocket flaps and I started a thread about pocket size so maybe we can post in those and give this thread back to the guy who had questions about the fit of his Wested.

Here's something very interesting and telling: If you look at the two photos I posted it seems as if the flap in the bottom photo is actually longer than the flap in the top photo. Holding them against each other and measuring they are exactly the same, however. Because of a slight tilt of the camera the perspective of the photo shifts enough to create an illusion of different size.

You can't judge based on photos alone.

Hahaha and I was just thinking to myself how I've had a thread thats had this kind of life to it. ;)

Anyways..still not sure what I had if the girl from Wested says I had the Raiders cut even tho I paid 145 pounds..meaning it should have been the ROLA cut?

This one is the £125 ROLA:

http://www.wested.com/special-offer-rai ... n-70-p.asp

This is the £145 RAIDERS:

http://www.wested.com/raiders-of-lost-a ... -103-p.asp

Looking at your pics I'm pretty sure it was the latter.

Please PM me if you are still confused!

I agree...it was this reply from Wested that confused me:

Dear Jason,
You have ordered a standard raiders jacket and the raiders of the lost ark jacket are both the same. However if you would like the jacket thats £10 cheaper this would be the rola style which comes with an 80's fit which is a slimmer cut.
I will await your responce.

Yeah... thats confusing :-k Gemma says they are the same, but for £10 less you get the 80's fit which is slimmer. I guess technically speaking they are both Raiders jackets (so they are the same?) but ROLA is 80's cut, maybe thats what she meant.

Sounds like she is saying:

1) You received the £145 Raiders jacket.

2) But if you want you can have the cheaper ROLA cut one as a replacement.

Maybe, get the Raiders in 1 size up, lets see if it feels any better to you. I've never really felt constricted even by my fitted Wested's, the TOD's yoke can be felt over your shoulder blades at first but you get used to it.

Im just not sure. Mine didnt seem to have the zipper leather facings or whatever they are (from what I could see).

I did reply saying I just want the looser of them in a 44. I asked a couple of times if they had any way of shipping it back to avoid the customs/taxes a second time for the replacement but I haven't received any further replies.

Not having much luck convincing Wested to help me out with regards to the duty and customs. I paid about $65 when it arrived, had to send it back for another $66 shipping, and they don't have much they can do about the taxes and duty I will have to pay a second time.

Here is what I asked:

Any idea about the duty and taxes? Please help me out there..this jacket is getting very expensive with all the extra shipping (cost me $66 to ship back and another $65 or so for duty and taxes the first time).

Jason

Dear Jason,
I am very sorry i am unable to mark the jacket value any lower then the actual price due to the fact if this was lost in post.
Thanks Gemma

Thanks Gemma.

But can it be declared a replacemtn on the customs forms..or a gift?

Dear Jason,
We mark all the parcels as a gift anyway,we can mark as a lower value as we normally do but some jackets still have custom charges which we cant avoild.
Thanks Gemma

By the time you get another, you could have had a G&B. You should at least think about waiting till the new USW jacket comes out very soon - could be a cheaper and better alternative.

What a pain this is turning into. Coming from another Canadian, all those taxes you have to pay is brutal! Thats the one thing that stinks about ordering outside of Canada is all the taxes. It seems they are charging you a lot for taxes though, I've ordered something for $200 USD once, when it came, I had to pay $25 total on taxes, and you're paying $66 dollars on a jacket around the same price almost (taxes are weird) If you haven't shipped it, maybe it would be better to go to a tailor, get measured, and order a custom, that way you'll know it will fit when it comes. :-k Either way, I hope everything works out for you, and you are happy with the whatever comes.

And considering that Wested wants everyone to mark JACKET PURCHASED FROM ENGLAND AND BEING RETURNED FOR ALTERATION/REPAIR' and tick the 'RETURNED GOODS' box (on customs declaration) on the box/package when you send it back to them, you think that they would be able to do the same thing when they send it back to you as a replacement.

Hankey.

I really think you are making this more complicated than it needs to be.

You need to let the authorities know that you already paid the duty on this item. You have paperwork to back you up and have proof of sending the item back.

So, get them to mark it.

REPLACEMENT JACKET, DUTY PAID.
REFER ADDRESSEE TO CONFIRM.

It is on the way to wested..hasnt arrived yet tho. Shold be there any day.

Once it comes back I guess I just have to fight with the customs people to prove it was a return and get a refund of my taxes and duty that I will no doubt have to pay a second time.

I will fight it!!

That's the spirit!

You have all your paper work I take it?

Do make sure they mark it as suggested above by me or by the TheExit148. Yes, I feel your pain about customs! ](*,) :)

I don't understand the taxes and duties some of you guys pay.
I've ordered and received 5 jackets from Wested in the UK. I'm in Australia. I've never paid anything other than the shipping cost
charged by Wested. I returned one for alterations, and again, only paid postage (both ways).
Have I been lucky, or does every country do things that differently?
Being a Commonwealth country, I would have thought Canada at least would have similar customs laws to us here in Oz.
What a pain, having to factor in yet another cost. Shipping is already expensive enough as is.
I envy those in the US, who have easier access to quality vendors like G&B and Tony Nowak.

And then if you get something shipped with UPS they charge another stupid expediting fee..so you can pay, shipping, duty, taxes, and then expediting fees.

Crazy!

The funny thing is, is that whenever I get something shipped transatlantic, it arrives super fast. I ordered from AB a shirt and buckle, with one business day it was here! CRAZY! I ordered some MK VII's from UK 4 days they were here, and both of those shippings were standard mail, no expedited or anything (and didn't have to pay anything on them). Now from the USA, something expedited, or whatever takes like 2 weeks! Sometimes even longer! I have had some nice success from Todd's though with his standard $5 shipping to Canada, takes a week at most. Anyway, yeah CDN customs screws us. Its always duty, and taxes...

I'm honestly pretty disappointed with the communication with Wested about this.

I have asked several times about a way to help me out with the duty..even if they can just say, "replacement jacket, duty and taxes already paid" on the customs forms so I can fight it when I have to pay that mess again. Not once have they said they can do that or will make the effort to try. I asked that about 5 times and all she said was how they could maybe claim the value as less and they always send as a 'gift'. Since then I have asked about 4 times if they can simply add that note to the customs forms. She had ignored my request every time.

According to the tracking of the jacket I returned, it arrived Friday so I emailed again to tell them it had arrived, again I suggested my customs comment, and asked about how I can arrange payment for shipping the new one. The reply said only that they would send me the size 44.

I gave it a couple more days and yesterday (Tuesday) emailed again asking if it had shipped and if I would get a tracking number. No reply. I emailed again later on in the day (I know there is a major time difference) to add that I am wondering if it hasn't shipped because of payment of shipping and how can I arrange it. This morning (Wednesday) I got a brief reply saying it should ship later today.

So I still have no clue how to arrange for payment of shipping, and I very much doubt they will add the comment I requested, declaring it a replacement jacket, to the customs forms. Admittedly I have emailed several times in an effort to get some communication and answers so they are likely tired of hearing from me, but some answers would sure be nice and save us both some trouble. Sure doesn't make my business feel appreciated. I have apologized for being a pain in a few emails. They don't acknowledge that either.

Maybe you need to call them directly when the shop is open, and speak to Peter directly about the issue. Maybe then it will be properly acknowledged. I've read that I a lot of people have problems with the email communication, and have much better luck with a phone call. Sheesh! What is goin' on over there?!? :-k

011 44, then Wested's number which calling from US, you leave out the 0 for Wested's number, which is (0)1322 660654.
Hope this helps and good luck! I've been emailing them lately too and no responses.

Re: My first Wested Raiders (better pics in top post)

Ok I called.

First I asked Peter about the cuts...and I ordered the Raiders of Lost Ark..not the ROLA. NOW I get it!! So to say the Raiders is the looser cut..its the 'Raiders of Lost Ark', NOT the cheaper 125 pound 'Raiders in goatskin'.

Apparently my jacket DID ship yesterday and they gave me the tracking number.

Then I had to ask about shipping. I shoudl have just not asked..but sounds like they want me to now paypal them the 20 pounds for shipping. I shouldnt have asked. :p

I asked again if they could have mentioned on the customs form that it was a return. He just asked her and then said to me that she says there was no place to put my note, but they did declare it a lesser value. Peter suggested I take my original recipt and use that as proof that this is a replacement.

ANyways...sounds like its on it's way!

Sheesh... what a pain! Hopefully it all works out with the customs stuff, and that you don't have to pay anything more. Let us know how the new one is once it arrives.
