The British fascists that followed Oswald Mosley in the 30's were known as the Blackshirts.

Actually several fascist organisations seemed to have ended up having their members called that:

Yes, it was a bit of a rubbish joke...

On a slightly weird note, during one UK summit a onlooker asked, on seeing so many guys in military looking shirts with a leather strap... "Are you guys playing Nazis?", somewhat ironic!

Hey Kt.,

I just love the eclectic and cosmopolitan flavor you bring to your posts.

indyfan1234,

Sorry it's not working out for you. We have some pretty sharp people here who might guide you a little better by using some dye. I would imagine there is great variability in the quality of the dyes used in making socks. Rather than hoping socks will bleed in the wash, search some of the back posts for dye advice and PM the guys who've done it well. If you can afford it, you might even do the experimental dye work and pass the info on to the rest of us. I'd be interested.

I would recommend to dye the shirt directly as it is with a VERY little amount of RIT pearl grey, maybe 1/4 of tea spoon. For us in Europe, Dylon Elephant grey is the option.

Hope it works!
