But didn't somebody (_ maybe?) once mention that the LC jacket had silver zips that were painted bronze (or am I thinking of a different Indy movie?)...
Different movie. That was Raiders.

The zipper in the 'flare' photo could be silver?
The collar stand detail (as it connects to the collar itself at least) looks very similar to the CS jacket

The collar stand detail is very similar to the CS jacket, but the CS jacket doesn't flare outwards the way the LC jacket does. Maybe an example of Indy becoming more conservative in his later years? ;)

Don't give up.
The question is only based on the photos. If you know the zipper was really light brass that's another thing all together and I trust you in it.

What can you tell about the collar construction and upper back panel? What measurements did you use and are those things you'll change for your new jacket?

the wavy zipper in the Raider was because of how it was sewn into the jacket. I wonder if the LC 'flare' is there because of similar reason?

the chest of the LC jacket is big, the zipper might be a tod to long for the jacket causing the demon roll.

I didnt use anythign. thats the standard wested LC pattern. thats why I said the new pattern is closer then what you think it is.

I thought they have standardised on the CS jacket for their LC offering?
Didn't Peter even say that since they were so similar?

anyway, what are measurements of your jacket in those areas?

 This hard core ' LC jacket information only' thread has rapidily turned into a Holt LC jacket thread, hasn't it? [-X ;)

If that's the direction this is taking, Hatch's suggestion should be reconsidered:
Someone needs to move set of Han's LC pics to this thread........talk about definition of LC jacket....

The main difference that jumps out at me between Han's jacket and the movie one is the sharper collar points. This isn't a critique of Han's jacket as I love it, but the LC collar tips were more round. There seems to be at least a couple of jackets with varying degrees of "roundness" to the tips. The collar tips that Dutch_Jones posted seem to be more round than some of the other jackets.

One of the photos Holt posted has a less 'round' collar tip similar to Han's.

The thing for us to remember about his jacket is he asked for those things, the pocket flaps, collar etc. So comparing them directly to the movie jacket as being 'wrong' is wrong.

If this were a thread about Han's jacket preferences, then I would agree, but this is a thread about THE LC jacket, it is isn't wrong, it is right.

I guess that was the point I was trying to make about bringing Chris's jacket into the fray. If this thread is about THE LC jacket, let's leave Holt's jacket at the door as well and continue to discuss THE jacket rather than copies. We have literally dozens of threads all through the archives that already follow that path.

Correct. There isn't much sense in picking it apart, because it's to Chris's spec, not a 'copy'.
It's not a bad thing to have it to refer to as one example. It passes quite nicely for what it supposed to represent

Just a question, am I thinking correctly that both the LC and CS were based on the 'prototype jacket'......could someone add some pics of it if that is correct.....(so many details to remember and it's early in the morning)

No The prototype you speak of was the base for the CS jacket. and that prototype was sort of a LC movie jacket ( made after the movie was released I believe, but its maker is unknown. I think it was a prototype for a licensed jacket.

So still with that time frame the LC and CS are pretty closely linked sort of like the Raiders and the TOD.........

That's right and then the 'protype' was the one the used as basis for CS, by Bernie .....it's the one shown to vendors. (or it's specs)..... is what I remember.....along with a few refinements he wanted to put his stamp on it.......

Only Lee Keppler knows for sure. ;)

The story I have always been told was Lucas purchased one of the G&B jackets from Lee when Lee was selling them through his Adventure Outpost ads. He liked it so much, he asked Lee if he would be willing to make jackets for him for the new LC film. Lee did NOT have the ways and means to do so, and sent Lucas to Peter, as Lee had worked with Peter in the past to make him Raiders jackets back in the mid 80's.

Actually, the prototype jacket was before LC. The snaps were ordered by the customer (someone at Lucasfilm). Both LC and CS jackets are based off of it.

The 'prototype jacket' has always been sited as being the Adventure Outpost jacket made by G&B and sold to Lucas by Lee Keppler.

I just can't stand the pockets of the current Wested LC design. The flaps aren't low enough to match the screen used jacket.
