WAIT

Post by Dr. Jones Jr. »

I orderd my wested sometime in september, near the end. and I guess i must have just ordered at the opening of "busy" season. It should have been here last week, and the wait is killing me. Im kinda dissapointed because i was going to wear it for my High School Senior pictures. Anyway, is this waiting period normal for the busy season? Last week sometime i got an email from peter saying it would be 10 days till it was dispatched, does that mean itll be on my door in 10 days or it would leave Wested in 10 days?
Please help me with my angst! lol

Wested are indeed having a very busy period right now. The release of the DVD's has resulted in multiple new UK orders and they are trying to keep up with the rush.

Additionally, if you ordered the authentic goat, there is a longer hold up on those orders as the batch of goat Wested currently have is of unnacceptable quality.

Sorry, this probably doesn't help much......

I'd say it probably means 10 days before it leaves wested. And Al, are you sure it's the DVDs that are causing alot of orders, or the fact that winter is coming up, which means people buying jackets/coats for warmth . . . and Christmas? ;)

It was Gerry at Wested who mentioned the DVD rush on the phone last week, but I guess it is probably a combination of ALL those factors really.

By the way Daryl - on an off-topic note, check out the hat section - I just ordered my first fed (that being federation  ) and could use a little advice on that 'perfect' raiders bash if you have the time.

Cheers,

I knew when I orderd that it would be a busy time for Wested. He told me it would be shipping in 10 day. That was on the 19th.

How long does Airborne take to ship it?

i ordered my jacket on september 12, got my confirmation on the 13th, and hoped it was started on the 15th. so far, i have only received one e-mail. i was expecting my jacket last week, or early this week. i don't know what is going on. i ordered the authentic goat though, but i figured i ordered before they got the bad batch. does that seem right to you guys, or do they not receive new leather every few weeks? i really don't know how much they order, or go through.

I'm no expert, but I believe that they don't get a new leather order every few weeks - they buy in bulk once in a while, as needed I imagine.

I would check out your authentic goatskin order as it may fall in the delayed bunch - email wested to enquire with your order number.

There should be no delay (other than the busy period) on the lamb or the cow, but production doesn't start a day ot two after your order - you go on the bottom of a production list and your jacket is made once your name reaches the top of that list.

I wouldn't worry though- your jackets will surely get there very soon now.

Consider me crazy, but i had a weird dream about that, i dreamt that my wested came while i was at work, but it was packed in a like 16 foot long box that had WESTED stamped on it real big, then when i finally opened it up it was really weird, it had a hood, and the leather was REALLY thick and it was too big and the arms were way too short, like to my elbows...maybe it was a nightmare lol.

It is frustrating, but trust me it's absolutely worth the wait - these jackets are superb!

Watch the new DVD's to take your mind off it and before you know it - hey presto, your jacket will arrive.

With regard to any sizing concerns, again do not fret. If the jacket needs tweaking, simply mail it back to wested by air and they will carry out any amendments very quickly - with amendments, you do go to the very top of the pile

Good luck,

Al

Sounds like a lot of us sent our orders in at the same time. I sent mine in on the 21st of September for an authentic lamb Raiders jacket, which should have been sent out the week of Oct 13th going by the 21 days to dispatch quote. On the 13th, I sent Wested an e-mail and got a reply back quoting 10 days to dispatch and to e-mail them at the end of that time for a tracking number. So I e-mailed them yesterday and received a reply back quoting 10 MORE DAYS to dispatch my jacket. So it seems as if they are more behind than they originally thought. :( Not too much that we can do about it though, it'll just make us enjoy our jackets that much more. I know that I'll be much more excited to see that American Airborne package at my front door than I would've been before because now I'm so much more anxious to get it. 8-[ I hope it comes soon though because I've already gone through the Indy bonus DVD and watched the Raiders DVD almost twice. I only have 2 movies left to help me pass the time. Good luck to everyone else waiting as well, hope we get our jackets soon.

PANIC NOT CHAPS!
i HAVE DESPATCHED OVER 50 JACKETS THIS WEEK AND ARE BACK ON TRACK WITH ORDERS.
For those who are getting a little confused we have a Jerry who is the
Production Manager ( my son in law) and Gerry my secretary who has taken over the email and customer realations. She has emailed today tracking no's for most jackets.
The Alexander the Great film got us a bit bogged down with over 1000 costumes but now that is put to bed we can get the Indyjackets up to date.
I thank all of you for your patience and understanding.
Cheers

Well,I came home from school this weekend and decided to check the e-mail. Sure enough, I got the message that I didn't want. Gerry informed me about the goat problems and asked if i wanted to stick it out and wait some more. of course I said yes, but its so hard to have to wait another 2 weeks for skins and then have them manufacture the jacket when it was ordered way back on september 12. i just hope this will give me the vip treatment and those awaiting authntic goat will be top priority when it arrives.

Sometime in mid september, not too sure on the exact date.

Regards,

Farn

EDIT:

I should also mention that mine is in PD Cow, so it may be quicker/easier/more convienient for Peter to have made and thus might be completed quicker then, say, a Goat or a Lamb (Goat is hard to work with, I hear).

If you are still concerned, give Peter a ring and ask him.

Mine is new cowhide so I'm assuming it would be similar to your production time.

I'm not worried, I'd just like to know when I'll have it! :)

The "dispatched in 10 days" means that the order gets sent to the line for cutting, sewing,etc.. I ordered mine 2 years ago, and got the same thing "10 days", but it tok about 5-6 weeks to get to me. When I called Peter about the delay, he explained the process...
Hope this helps fellas.
The waiting is the hardest part, but I suggest making that clover lighter to keep you occupied in the meantime...

Has anyone not gotten their order from Wested?

I think not.

I waited three months for my order a few years back, it was hard but it did arrive eventually and was well worth it. Many here have shared the same senerio. I even at times forget I had to wait for it at all .

Well it finally arrived, although i could be happier, my parents arent going to let me have it until christmas, which stinks by itself, but what really cheesed me off was my mom telling me that she tried it on! I havent even looked at it yet, and she had it on, i was so mad when i discoveerd i wsnt the 1st person wearing it. What a travesty, but the delivery wait is finally over although i still gotta wait till x-mas.

I got to try on my wested once before x-mas comes, and was just wondering: if it "fits" how would it look on yourself, like the sleeves were kinda narrow, is it supposed to fit closely to your arms, or should there be some space left in the sleeve? With a fairly thick sweater underneath, there was maybe a centimeter of space all around my wrist. is this normal, or is the jacket too tight on my arms? also, should it be a little snug around the shoulders? It isnt "tight" per say but feels snug and solid...is this also normal?
-Just my nervous wondering

That's how mine was as well. I think Peter makes his jacket with a perfect fit in mine. I like loose clothing and my jacket is fine with a t-shirt or light sweater. But if I want to wear my heavy wool sweaters, it gets tight, especially around the shoulders and upper arms.

That's why when I ordered my goat, my intentions are to use it during colder days. I made a few adjustments and sent to to Peter to look at in case it looked awkward. He said it was fine and even made a few reccomendations of his own.
Hopefully it'll arrive before it starts to get really cold here.

Actually with mine, I asked peter to give me a wee bit more room everywhere at his discretion, as I intended to bundle up underneath as well as due to a rather strict excercise regiment, I have been bulking up muscle wise too. I would have hated to order a perfect fitting jacket and have outgrown it by christmas!

Also, since he knew this new jacket was going to be my 'winter' jacket, he added a nice little surprise. Standing at the bus stop the other day, my hands were a wee bit cold and I just instinctively reached for side pockets on my jacket, realizing 3/4 of the way through the motion that my pockets opened from the TOP. However, being tired, I continued. And to my delight: HAND WARMERS! :D I'm not sure if these are standard, but I didn't ask for them but am sure glad they are there!

Ok I think you all are gonna hate me - I ordered a jacket about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it arrived on Friday. Gerry was saying that it is now getting to tight to order in time for Christmas.
