Alden colors - after use

Post by IndyK »

I've never really thought the difference between the original Raiders Alden 405's and the newer "pumpkin"-versions were that big, when the boots were heavily distressed. But when I received my Raiders-boots from AB I could, off course, see how big the difference really was.
However, having now used both pairs for a longer time, I realize that the colors gets closer and closer to their respective film-looks after a while. The pumpkin-ones, that I bought seven years ago, still holds their original color, but the difference from the lower parts to the upper part, mostly hidden by pants, reminds me of the KOTCS look.
The original brown ones are not that old off course, but having been used every day for a while now I see, that the natural distress (plus some help... Michaelson, You dont wanna hear about it.) gives them the mat-finish look I see in the opening scenes of Raiders.

The photo shown here is taken in bright sunlight, which gives the biggest difference. In subdued light they can almost appear identical when they havent recieved Pecards for a while.

Just a little user-info from a very, very, very proud owner of both pairs =P~

Yes I have to agree, I really like the AB versions a lot.....I currently have a pair of Coyles and after liking them so much I would like to upgrade to either Aldens or now the AB's.
Being in the UK there is nothing available so I will have order from abroad so as a matter of interest, where are AB located, in the US or Europe and is there a cost difference between the AB's and the Aldens.

Any help would be appreciated.......

Love the look of the ABs. I may have to pick up a pair. I got the "pumpkin" Aldens, too, and while some Meltonian Brick does darken them, it only goes so far. Later coats of Meltonian Brown have darkened it a LITTLE bit more, but once the polish rubs off, you're back to the ol' pumpkin style.
