Indy Jacket for the Young 'uns!

Hey all,

Any of you Indyfans have a kid or know a kid who LOVES Indy like we do? I was at the Gap yesterday and found a pretty darn good Indy style jacket for children! It's on sale already and will just continue to go down in price!

It's pre-distressed cowhide and has handwarmer pockets and an inside pocket! It has epulets and some other minor flaws but the kids won't notice (unless their fanatical Dads, Uncles, Friends tell them so)!

Renderking, this would look awesome on Coppertop!!!

That's a dead-ringer INdy jacket! If only I was a few sizes smaller, or had kids...wait...not for another 10 years or so

I saw this jacket a couple weeks ago and I was amazed at how "Indy" like it was. No it is not "accurate" but it is definitely an adventurers jacket for the kids. I would have loved to have this jacket when I was a kid! If my daughter was of the right age I would have bought it for her in a second!

No bi-swing pleats, no adjustment straps. Very cool jacket though.

Tis right, Edge, I shouldn't have said dead-ringer. But near enough for a wee one, most certainly. I doubt they are the sticklers for screen accuracy that some of us are

I don't personally think of myself as a screen accurate type of guy. I love my FS Expo more than any other jacket I've ever owned and it is as close to being screen accurate as I will ever care about. If the GAP jacket were adult sized and at the same price point I'd probably pick one up. It would be a good "beat up" jacket.

Of course, I wasn't trying to say that you were a screen accurate person, I was merely harking back to the days when we as kids would dress up as Indy for haloween and be content in a tilley hat and a windbreaker with a coiled rope for a whip

And yeah, the Gap jacket at that price would be excellent for beating around the place. I wonder what the odds are that Gap execs read this....

I tell ya fellas! This jacket has the right "look" to it for sure! It's not the best quality cowhide in the world, but it looks great! It's a decent color and has all the imperfections and markings of a well-used jacket!

It's a better "looking" pre-distressed leather than many top manufactuers have produced lately. I don't mean quality, mind you. It just has a better look to it.

And yeah, when I was ten, I would have LOVED this jacket! Mine was a mustard yellow field jacket that looked NOTHING like Indy's! I had a cowboy hat and a jump rope whip; but you know what? I had fun anyway!

Wow! That is dangerously close for the untrained eye, and even for the trained one. That may well be looking into, especially given it's on sale.

I currently am working on a re-build for my daughter. We started with a circa 1985 Berman's bomber, adult size medium. The goal is a child size 7/8 or size 9 Indy. So far so good.

i gotto say that that's a hekuvo nice look-alike, minus a few details, cuff type, bi-swing back, epulets, windflap etc, but the basic characteristics are great, the the somewhat-worn look is quite cool also

Good point Michaelson! Maybe I'll pick one of these up for my Daughter-to-Be! She's due in March so it may be awhile! By then, I'll have added Pecards and it will be nice and soft for her!

Yep, don't wait to long. Heck, my girls are the age that they can wear anything old Dad has in the closet, so I have to watch them REAL close when they're at the house.

It does look good, but let's not forget that Peter WILL do small kids jackets. I may order a 6x Wested for my daughter who will be 5 next month. She can pass it on to her little sister when she's done wearing it.

The Gap jacket IS pretty nice though............

I don't know. I would buy the smallest one and let him grow into it! That's probably what I'm gonna do for my little one.

BTW, Thanks Holly for the congrats! Let's just say my Daughter's gonna be well-versed in Indy-Lore. I hope she's strong and spirited like Marion; I'll just have to keep her away from the frying pans!
