Visit with Tony
I visited Tony 2 weeks ago and I got to try on the "Zero" jacket. He told me that it was made really poorly and showed me why...
The first pic is how it SHOULD be.
Then he had me just move my arms around for about 5 seconds and THIS happened... (this is what you see in Raiders)
Then I put my TN CS jacket on and did the same test...
Before moving around...
AFTER moving around...
This is just to show you the difference between a well constructed jacket and a poorly constructed jacket.
And just a couple more pics...
With our CS jackets
And the Winner...

Re: Visit with Tony
Great demonstration, Knibs. But, IMO, if a jacket ends up with the excellent look of the Raiders jacket as in picture 2, then it is WELL constructed.
Re: Visit with Tony
Make that 'screen acurately WELL constructed'.......thanks for THE look TN and Knibs....Satipo wrote:Great demonstration, Knibs. But, IMO, if a jacket ends up with the excellent look of the Raiders jacket as in picture 2, then it is WELL constructed.

Re: Visit with Tony
That´s another way to look at it, but I simply mean it´s well constructed for the purpose of looking good, just like the original Raiders jacket.Hatch wrote:Make that 'screen acurately WELL constructed'

If Tony doesn't want the zero jacket.. I'll take it.

Re: Visit with Tony
Good pics and great looking jackets, but does Tony know we stopped popping collars here in the U.S. before Last Crusade even came out? I guess it's a product of his age. Hey, at least he doesn't have a mullet. That would be too much to handle.
I noticed in your Bazaar thread you had some scraps of leather from your visit. You mentioned buying them but did you mean to type give? Are you really going to attempt to sell leather scraps?

Re: Visit with Tony
I noticed the exact same thing with your old goat Raiders;) It falls off the shoulders too. But like you said when I wear a shirt, now in the movie harrison has the NH shirt so that leaves more room as it is a thin shirt.Indiana Holt wrote:funny.. at first I thought I had to force my jacket of the shoulders. Then he had me just move my arms around for about 5 seconds and THIS happened... I'll be honest.. I like the off the shoulder look.

Great pics knibs. Hey, your eye looks good... no lingering problems I hope.
I agree, the off-the shoulder look provides the vertical creases by the arms ... a really nice worn look.

Re: Visit with Tony
I agree the "off the shoulder" pose looks best. For some reason, though, he looks "fatter" in the 2nd photo like he's sticking out his gut. (Look at his shirt). HF looks thin even with the off-the-shoulder pose.

Shouldn't matter what you are wearing under it. It will want to fall off, you don't have to move your arms even, just move, or stand still, and there it will go.Indiana Holt wrote:funny.. at first I thought I had to force my jacket of the shoulders. Then he had me just move my arms around for about 5 seconds and THIS happened... Re: Visit with Tony
So knibs, did you buy anything? If so, what? How long were you in the store?
I'll be going down there, hopefully, in the next couple of weeks. I can hardly wait.

I didn't see knibs post about leather scraps, but it is possible he bought a bag of leather scraps from Tony and wants to sell some of it.

Re: Visit with Tony
The reflection of the back of the jacket in the mirror in the second photo is great
Re: Visit with Tony
Why would anyone buy a bag of leather scrap? I mean, if it's like the scrap piece I had what could you do with it?
Re: Visit with Tony
No Tony gave me a bag and told me to ask if anyone would be interested in buying some from him because he didn't want to just waste the leather.RCSignals wrote:well a popped collar is SAagent5 wrote:Good pics and great looking jackets, but does Tony know we stopped popping collars here in the U.S. before Last Crusade even came out? Re: Visit with Tony
People buy bags of leather scrap all the time. Visit a Tandy leather store or a craft type store, you'll see.agent5 wrote:Why would anyone buy a bag of leather scrap? I mean, if it's like the scrap piece I had what could you do with it?
I'm sure Tony has all sorts of leather scrap, not just shrunken lamb.

That make sense too. I'm sure he won't have a problem selling it, just maybe not here.knibs7 wrote:

Re: Visit with Tony
Thats what you use to send out samples so people can see and feel the leather in person;)

Thanks for the pics, Knibs! I might be heading to SoCal in June, and definitely going to try on the zero jacket if Tony lets me

Re: Visit with Tony
My dad used to buy bags of scrap leather. He got them for pretty much nothing and would sew them to make work out gloves for light and heavy punching bags. Each piece he needed for the gloves was actually pretty small. He doesn't make them anymore, but when he first retired he made them all the time and they were top notch. He always had someone pestering him to make a pair for them.agent5 wrote:Why would anyone buy a bag of leather scrap? I mean, if it's like the scrap piece I had what could you do with it?
