Re-dying a Wested? Eeeek!

Post by PropReplicator »

I think I have a "Dark Brown" Goatskin jacket instead of an "Authentic Brown". I got it in a trade long before I even knew there was a difference.

Anyhoo, what is the possibility of darkening up my "Dark Brown" into more of an "Authentic Brown" color?

I am no expert, but I believe the authentic brown is actually lighter than the dark brown, so you couldn't dye it. You could maybe try to remove some colour from the jacket (ala the MK method?) but I'm only guessing.

Gonna have to suggest...zero chance. The authentic brown is lighter in color, to my knowledge. I had the authentic goat, and have only seen pics of the dark goat. I have seen a FS dark brown goat in person.

Perhaps you have a distressing candidate there.

Go to www.indyjacket.com and look at the leather samples. The authentic lamb is there and is clearly lighter than the rest by some way. As the auth goat was/is exactly the same colour as the auth lamb, you should be able to find out for sure one way or the other.

Where are the leather samples? I love Wested, but I hate trying to navigate their website. They really need to have someone do some tweaking. :(

The samples are here: http://www.wested.com/indyjacket/frsizing.html

That's a great looking jacket by the way - to my eye it looks like the dark brown.

Cheers,

Sweet, thanks! Well, I guess I'll be distressing this baby to make it look closer to the actual jacket. :)

Thanks!
