Wested washed goat smell?
I was wondering if the Wested washed goat has the same gamey smell that the standard goat has?
I used to have a Wested standard goat and it smelled a little funky.
Thanks,
Phil

Someone was nice enough to answer you when you asked if all goat jackets smell the same way, maybe you could extend the courtesy to other members.
Re: Wested washed goat smell?
I didn't notice the smell like I have with regular goat.

Hi guys. My first post here
I concur. Regular goat smells kinda fishy... A friend of mine got one and eventually it gets better with time.
I have a custom Wested lamb and an off the peg washed goat. The lamb had a very subtle, elegant smell when I got it, but after one year, it almost doesn't smell anymore.
My washed goat has a different smell than the lamb, perhaps not as refined, but much, much more pleasant than the standard goat. I'm surprised it doesn't vanish with time, but I bought it only six moths ago.

I spilled pop down the inside of my sleeve on my Expedition and had to wash it. I hung it in the basement bathroom to air dry and the next day the whole basement smelled like...well, a herd of goats. The smell does go away but it was pretty strong for a little while. The goat smell was a bit stronger on the Expo than the washed goat even before the Expo was wet.

Different leathers do smell different, tanning methods aside.
Goat has been noted as being stronger by quite a few.
My washed goat did smell a little 'chemically' for a day or 2 but that quickly went away and it seems to have faded to just a 'normal' leather smell in a matter of a few days.
My lambskin still has a subtle leather smell after a 3-4 years, and my NP after 2.
