Hi there IndianaJones. I've ordered my fuller's earth from this site:
http://catalog.cineshoppe.com/browseGro ... up_id=9344
Fuller's earth does come off, it's basically just a powder used to dust up items to make them appear old & used. An old Hollywood trick to quickly get a particular look. NOTE: Do not order fuller's earth in anything but the color NATURAL. Other colors contain dye that could permanently alter the color of whatever it is you are covering.

Fuller's Earth
I read in the "Cowboy Hat Book" by William Reynolds and Rich Rand (maker of fine Cowboy hats) that Fuller's Earth is available in drug and paint stores (funny none in my heighborhood), and it is used to clean butter or oil type of stains from your good felt hat. The powder is the cosistiency of baking powder, is taupe or tan color. Supposedly it will not stain your hat, to do not worry about what color your hat is. Let the powder act like a poultice, it will draw the oily stain from your fine felt hat. Then brush off the powder after a couple of three hours or so. I have a product called SILVER LABEL miracle spot remover for hats. Got it from National Beatty Page. Same stuff...used for stains, finger marks, spotting rings, grease stains. Looks like finely ground kitty litter, the color of moon dust!
