Question about my thong/fall connection.

Question about my thong/fall connection.
On my whip, originall where the fall attaches to the thong, there are some thicker plaiting and then each strand sticks out of the end except for one, which wraps back on itself over back toward the thong and back under the "knott". This strand has come loose from where it was lodged, and now sticks out just like all the other strands (even though it is a few cm longer than the others).
My question is this...is this something I need to fix? Does it have any long term affect on the whip, or can I leave it as is?

Re: Question about my thong/fall connection.
Try to bring it again under the fall - carefully. With this strand open
you could risk that the fall hitch opens. Take it back and then pull
- again carefully - the fall. The fall should hold that strand in place.

Re: Question about my thong/fall connection.
I'm really not sure how I can do that without unravelling the end of the thong. I have no leatherworking experience (unless applying Pecards counts as experience), so I may have to send it back to the whipmaker.

This is a purewhips whip, BTW. Gus, if you read this, do you have any suggestions?

maboot,This video will give you an idea of that strand's function.

You should be able to feed it through the knot as shown midway during the demonstration. You'd need to loose the knot up abit with a pointed tool of some kind. Or if you're veryadventureous, try to redo the entire knot.
Hope that helps.

I don't really have the cajones, so I will NOT redo the KNOT, but I will probaly give the tuck job a shot.
Thanks raider!

Re: Question about my thong/fall connection.
It's an easy fix. I'm sure Gus would walk you through it on the phone if you would be more comfortable doing it that way. There is no need to loosen up the hitches, but if they have already come somewhat loose you made need to tighten them up before bringing the strand back under the fall.
