G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
Hey guys,
Does anyone have much experience with both the pre & post-mod G&B's? I'm wondering what, if anything, else they changed besides the lining of the handwarmer pockets. One of the main things I'm wondering about are the gussets: do they look the same as this on the post-mods?
This jacket is about 5 years old, and it is a pre-mod as it has the old-style pockets. Does anyone with a newer Expo have these same gussetts? Rundquist? Thanks!

AHA! Is that my old one? I see you went for it
I just looked at my one I got last year and the gussets are the same.

Tollan,
Yes, that's it! I bought it from Zack. It's a great jacket, although the sleeves are a bit too long for me. I'll probably have them shortened this week. I was just wondering if the gussetts are the same on the newer G&B jackets...still love the jacket though,

As I recall, the gussets have never been involved in any of the modifications.
They're the same now as they were in the original production.

Ah, ok. So is there anything different between a pre & post-mod besides the pockets? Or is that the only change?Michaelson wrote:As I recall, the gussets have never been involved in any of the modifications.

I was only involved with the pockets mod. _ can answer what, if anything else, was changed.

Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
I got my G&B last year and it looks the same.
Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
I have one from last year. I have noticed on photos here that the pocket placement varies a bit from year to year, as does the cut of the pocket flap. Some are very curvy and others are straighter. The pocket opposite the windflap these days is positioned a little close to the zip for SA and is certainly unlike the TN jacket.

do you mean the right pocket?CM wrote:I have one from last year. I have noticed on photos here that the pocket placement varies a bit from year to year, as does the cut of the pocket flap. Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
Whatever pocket is next to the zip (on the non-windflap side). On mine and many recent G&B's, the pocket is only 3cm from the actual zip - I'd say that's about 2cm (or almost an inch) too close to that zip. However, I think the windflap side looks SA - as in my favorite shot of Indy entering the cave at the start of ROTLA - we see the pocket starts about an inch from the windflap (this was also Chris King's special specs to TN re pocket placement).RCSignals wrote:do you mean the right pocket?CM wrote:I have one from last year. Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
I'll have to measure the right pocket from the zip, but as I said in another post, on the left the pocket is actually about 1.25" from the windflap left seam on the TN.CM wrote:Whatever pocket is next to the zip (on the non-windflap side). I guess I can see how one might estimate only 1" from looking at a 'screen grab'
Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
Just to clarify CM, is it the pocket you put your right hand in when wearing the jacket.........CM wrote:Whatever pocket is next to the zip (on the non-windflap side). Well 1.25 is close to 1 inch. It looks more like 2 inches in photos. RC - please measure the other side of your TN and let us know the distance from zip to pocket, I'd be very interested to find that out.
Cheers

The left pocket is 1 5/8" to the end of the leather/start of the zipper.CM wrote:Well 1.25 is close to 1 inch. It looks more like 2 inches in photos. RC - please measure the other side of your TN and let us know the distance from zip to pocket, I'd be very interested to find that out.

I don't know what photos you are looking at in which the right pocket (the one you put your right hand in when wearing the jacket ) appears to be 2" from the storm flap, but remember on a larger (than Ford size) jacket the pockets are moved slightly away from the storm flap/zipper. If they weren't the larger jackets would look odd.
Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
You may well be right there RC. I'll have a look over my photos tonight and try and get a grip... Thanks for the measurements.RCSignals wrote:The left pocket is 1 5/8" to the end of the leather/start of the zipper.CM wrote:Well 1.25 is close to 1 inch. It looks more like 2 inches in photos. What is the measurement from the right hand side pocket to the zip?

Re: G&B Pre-mod and Post-mod Jackets
OK so lets start this again. You've confused me now, so to undo any confusion to you:
The measurement from the left pocket to sewn seam that starts the storm flap and is the attachment point for the zip is 1.25"
the measurement for the right pocket is 1.625" to the end of the leather/start of the zipper.
With the jacket zipped the right pocket (the one you put your right hand in with the jacket being worn ) is .75" from the edge of the storm flap.
What are you doing with these measurements?

Just interested in the sizes compared to my G&B. I'll measure them tonight to get a comparison up.RCSignals wrote:OK so lets start this again. You've confused me now, so to undo any confusion to you:

Okay here we go. On mine it is:
Right pocket 1.4inches from pocket to start of zip
Left pocket 2.5 inches from pocket to end of flap. Leather from pocket to edge of flap is 1.1 inches.
Note, the zip and the cloth it is mounted on is about .5 of an inch wide.
Not sure we've learned anything but I had fun. G&B measurements are much closer to TN's than I suspected (not to be taken as a comment about which jacket is better RC... )
Just goes to show that photos are very unreliable.

CM and RC,.........PLATON says both your jackets are too short.......

Left pocket 2.875 inches from pocket to end of flap. (I didn't give that measurement before)CM wrote:Just interested in the sizes compared to my G&B. (You're always ripping on which jacket is better CM )
Agree on photos, useful but unreliable

Considering the G&B specs were taken directly from a screen used Raiders stunt jacket, and the TN is supposed have been made from specs taken directly from a screen used Raiders hero jacket, I'm not that surprised myself.....CM wrote: G&B measurements are much closer to TN's than I suspected......
