Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Anyone ordered one from http://www.wested.com/customrola--jacket-161-p.asp? The pics and the text suggest that it has 80s cut, no facings, tapered sleeves, small nickel zipper to the bottom of the jacket, "narrower" action pleats and piped inside pocket. Are all of these specs still the case? What about
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
yes thats just the jacket people order when they want an 80's cut.
the specs you asked about are usually typed in the special request box. or like me among many others send them the specs in an seperate email.
if you dont point out that you want the backpanel to extend, pocket placement or longer straps, then it migth be overlooked.since they dont know what you want and HOW you want it.
if you are considering to order one then I would suggest that you send them a full spec sheet with everything you want.

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Hey Holt, does your special collar affect that off the shoulder look?
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Holt, could you please relate pocket size/placement and strap length you would suggest for ROLA custom.....thanks
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
VP, afraid nothing but a TN has captured that yet,but didn't I see that Peter had what looked like a TN1.......so you never know ...
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
no, the shoulder seam on my jacket is like all the other wested jackets been made. it does fall of the shoulders if I 'force' it to fall of the shoulders, but the TN jackets 'wants' to fall of the shoulders...VP wrote:Hey Holt, does your special collar affect that off the shoulder look?

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
depends on size......
I only make specs for my jacket size.
but let me take the oportunity to say this.
I think people may have gotten the wrong impression of me...
yes, its true, I am a guy who is extreme detailed obsessed . I make jacket specs for what I find SA.I use lots of lots of time on my projects, looking at screen grabs, calculating specs and sketching out patterns. blah,blah,blah..... yes I know... I need help!
But Im getting LOTS of pm's and emails about me making specs for different jackets sizes and calculating jacket spec/sizes for different body types.......
So, I will say this out in the public now...so please try an understand. I can TRY to help and give you my best advice, but I can NOT give you a full 'size up' for a jacket....I am not a tailor and I dont know anything about that profession... my specs is made after what I see is SA, YOU may see something totally different....
for example. the 'Holt' jacket made after my specs...which most of you are contacting me about...... if someone got a jacket with full Holt specs only in one size up, it may not look the same, and YOU may feel dissapointed when you get it or feel ripped of...... I dont know, but what I do know is that it doesnt make me feel easy knowing I have given a the 'go' with my specs and you get a bag of poop in return ( metaforacly speaking)
I make jackets after my body type....
and let me say, Im not mad or irritiatred or something now. I dont want to come of harsh in any way....I just wanted to say this to you ALL in public....
you can all contact me as much as you like, I will gladly help all of you in the best way i CAN..........but you have been warned that I cant make a jacket from scratch for you
hey! I just noticed I have a little Mitch LaRue style of writing.

The measurements of my regular 44 pocket are only a few millimeters off of those of the agent5 measurements, btw.

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
No, standard size. Probably same as this one: http://www.wested.com/raiders-jacket-157-p.asp
What I mean is that the standard measurements are pretty darn close to those which are considered screen accurate.

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
how?
the standard jacket is a full cut baggy jacket. it has facings and it has a brass zipp. not SA.
if you are a SA nut like me, then you can see the diffirence between the jackets from 200 feet..
but if your not into Sa then yeah, all jacket will look the same... like many people cant really see any difference between all 4 jackets becasue their not into it....

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
I meant regarding the pocket size, overall the measurements are completely different. My next jacket is probably going to be a DB Lamb Raiders, I'm thinking of these specs:
- All Cotton lining
- Black/gunmetal sliders with X-box stitching
- 80's cut
- No leather facing on the zipper
- 5 gauge silver color zipper with small zipper pull extending as low as possible without the zipper pull showing
- Slit inside pocket, NOT piped (see http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd31 ... CN0601.jpg)
- Tapered sleeves and back panel, backpanel extending all the way to the arm seam
- Extra reinforced handwarmer/side entry pocket entry stitchings
- Action pleat depth 3.2cm (~1.25")
- Collar ending in the middle of the storm flap, rounded top corner on the storm flap
- Side strap length 22.2cm (~8.75")
- Arm seam located one inch below the yoke seam
- Silver colored snaps on pockets, scalloped pocket flaps, pocket size same as my current jacket (width 16.3cm (~6.42"), height 19.5cm (~7.68"), pocket flap height 7cm (~2.76")), located 5.1cm (~2") from the bottom, right pocket 4cm (~1.57") from the zipper seam and left pocket 2.8cm (~1.1") from the storm flap

I admit... I had to look that up.
Are you talking about the ONLY Mitch LaRue that Google turns up, who happens to be on Facebook? Otherwise I'm at a loss.
The only reason my interest is peaked on this, is because I happen to write very similar to that myself.

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
By the way, I don't mean to highjack this thread... but I'm just gonna take this opportunity to quickly clear up a little something that's caused a little bit of confusion:EchoSix wrote:Are you talking about the ONLY Mitch LaRue that Google turns up, who happens to be on Facebook? Otherwise I'm at a loss.
My REAL name isn't "Mitch LaRue" at all.
It's just a name I put together back when I first Registered here at C.O.W. because it seemed like everyone else had a Username that didn't seem to be their real name (and I figured I'd follow the trend).
"Mitch" just seemed like a good, solid, Western/Adventure-lovin'-type name and "LaRue" was just my nod to "Lash LaRue" - the whip-totin' cowboy from the "olden days".
A week or so ago someone on another thread mentioned that whenever they see a post from me that they "think of the 'Mitch LaRue' in the Garth Brooks Song..." I have NO idea what that's about!
But now - thanks to EchoSix - I find out that there actually IS a guy (here in Canada, no less!) who really IS named Mitch LaRue... Again, I had NO idea!
So, please... whether you're trying to reach me personally (or even if you want to simply say "Dude seriously, ease up on the use of BOLD print")... please leave the guy named Mitch LaRue (who's on facebook) alone.
MY name is Fox Lidstone.
Yes, that's right... my REAL name is actually MORE unlikely than the Username I was going by.
(Ironically, someone who ALSO goes by the name Fox - a "Fox Harrison" - joined the boards recently and I've read a few of his posts that end with him signing off:
"best,
Fox"
Needless to say, at times I'm on the cusp of an identity crisis.
Anyway, hope that makes things as clear as mud.
Let's get back on topic now.
Fox

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Fox (Mitch)..........that'd be "Chris Ladoux" (sp) in the Garth Brooks song he was actually a Rodeo cowboy who had quite a record career himself before untimely death...... lot of "real" cowboys listened to his stuff and Garth was trying to capture that I think

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Cool, kind of like Fox Mulder.
Yeah, that was my first thought - I'm a die-hard X-Files fan. And when "Mitch" saidJC1972 wrote:Cool, kind of like Fox Mulder.
I couldn't help but think of the line from one of the episodes where Mulder gets his mind switched into the body of this middle-aged government spook who has a, um, "witch-y" wife, and a son and daughter who can't stand him, and he tries to tell his "wife" that he's really "Fox Mulder" and she tells him "most men, when they have a mid-life crisis, go out and buy a sports car, they don't run around calling themselves 'Fox!'"my REAL name is actually MORE unlikely than the Username I was going by.
Seriously, though - I think that's a cool name.

Nope, last spoke with them on April 1 when I confirmed my back length (26 inches). If I don't receive any update from them during next week I'll query about the order.

Say I order a custom Wested, and I throw a laundry list of specs at them like say the Agent 5 or Holt measurements, will that jack the price up or will they just walk away saying.. Worst.. Customer... Ever! ? I guess I'm saying this, do a bunch of custom requirements make the custom price BIGGER?

Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
for my custom raiders im waitin 4, i asked for a medium sized list and i only paid 5 pounds more.. and all i asked for was the small yolk with the back arm sleeve seam 1.25in below the yolk, pointy collar like Crusade, strongest thread, and collar in the mid of stormflap..
not much huh
not much huh
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
I asked for Holt's yolk specs, Marc's pocket specs, and reinforced stitching on my HH Raiders. It did raise the price quite a bit. It still wasn't unreasonable by any means but there was a noticeable jump.
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
the yolk i went for was the Holt yolk
Re: Wested Custom ROLA Jacket
Guys, please... yoke, not yolk. We're talking like the yoke an ox wears when he pulls a plow, not the yellow of an egg (I hope)
