Bag.......Done
Some people might call me cheap But to me is all about self satisfaction of DIY.
Got a very good deal on a piece of 1" x 60" leather strap locally for about $7. I already have medium brown dye so, I dye it. Not too bad for just slapping the dye to get that rustic used look.
I know you can get some screen accurate buckle, but I decided to make my own out of scrap aluminium piece that I have around. Not too bad for an hour work with just drill bit and filer.
Finally, put it all together.................

I wouldn't call that cheap, I would call that resourceful. That is a mighty fine looking strap there! Nice work!

That is a really nice strap and buckle! The colour/dye job of the strap is cool, because it kind of looks weathered already, like it's been used for sometime now, not just a straight clean dye job. If you notice in Raiders, his strap is the lighter brown but the parts of the strap that are around his body are darker brown in areas from sweat, dirt etc. and you captured that nicely. Very nice job! Props

Bravo!! That's really nice. I like the buckle. And the strap's not a bit shabby either! Great job, now once you get your Fed Dlx bashed, you're on your way!
That's very "Indyesque" in so much as, that's how I picture him doing things, a DIY sort of guy.. who if it were around in his day, would have watched HGTV and DIY Network to learn more about things he didn't know. haha ok, I admit that last part's a stretch..

That's actually what I thought when I was reading the original post. I could see Indy taking a couple hours and doing it this way from materials/supplies that he had laying around.theinterchange wrote: That's very "Indyesque" in so much as, that's how I picture him doing things, a DIY sort of guy.. I'll have to say, that looks quite awesome! The strap colouring really turned out well.
Re: Bag.......Done
I have to agree with everyone else. The strap looks beautiful. I too think the color makes it look weathered, which is what you want for an Indy strap

Very well done and SA. I made a strap for my first bag 20 years ago, but it didn't come out nearly as nice as yours - good job!
