Which way does it go?
The straps through the tri glides, should they go forward or backward? I've been looking at the pictures of TN and Westeds and they seem to go in oposite directions. Whilst itay be a choice thing, which way round SHOULD they go. Thanks!

depends on the movie.. raiders and temple point back, LC and CS point forward..

Re: Which way does it go?
My Raiders has the strap on the front and triglids on the back. When I put the leather strap through it ends up with the strap pointing 'forwards'. Should I send it back or is there a way of putting the straps through correctly that I haven't worked out this far? Please let me know. Thanks

Re: Which way does it go?
I MAY have spotted the problem. The metal is held on with a leather loop. There are 2 separate metal rectangles, do I not have the triglides I asked for? Are the triglides a box with a centre 'bar' so the leather goes under first, over second and under third?
I'm getting myself worked up and need help

Re: Which way does it go?
Standard on the Raiders are 2 rectangular loops called sliders, these are attached to the leather loop on the back panel.
The other option is 2 D rings also attached to the loop on the back panel.
If you wanted triglides you'd have to talk with Peter and make a special request, or supply them yourself.

I DID ask for the triglides specialy. If you don't have them, how do you get the straps to 'point' in the right direction?Kt Templar wrote:Standard on the Raiders are 2 rectangular loops called sliders, these are attached to the leather loop on the back panel.

I don't think you can unless you have the sliders moved from the back panel to the front position. That is reverse the placement of the strap and sliders

If that is the case, why are they put on that way round? I've emaild Peter , hopefully he will get back to me on Tuesday. I'd really hoped that after the wait for the leather it would all be OK.....RCSignals wrote:I don't think you can unless you have the sliders moved from the back panel to the front position. Well with a tri-glide buckle the strap will certainly point to the back. I don't see how that can be accomplished with rectangular or D-ring sliders unless their position on the jacket is reversed.Raider Of The Lost Ark wrote:If that is the case, why are they put on that way round? Re: Which way does it go?
The hardware is attached to the rear strap of the jacket. Reversing it is incorrect and Wested have refused to change that on many occasions.
For many years people have doubled back the strap to achieve the rear pointing effect. The original jackets were supplied with the twinned rectangular sliders, we've been told, these were likely to have been swapped by the costume dept for some sort of rectangular buckle/triglide whatever. The way it looks on screen certainly seems to support that in some scenes.
Your best bet is to request the ToD style buckle which works in the way you envision. Or to call and see if they have any triglides. It's all very well asking for something, but if they don't have it they don't have it.
Types of triglides
There seems to be a prejudice against plastic triglides, I suppose because they are anachronistic but they would work:
The metal ones seem to be slimmer:
There is another option, the movable bar type of triglide.

Re: Which way does it go?
KT thanks. Although I asked for them, and Peter said no problem. If they ran out I should have been told. I waited 2 mths for the leather, I would have waited for the triglides.

Re: Which way does it go?
Well sounds like they forgot or the note got lost. If you get a couple of the moveable bar triglides they can be retrofitted without undoing the leather loop, or a seamstress can do it for you for a small fee.

Can you explain how this can be done?Kt Templar wrote:Well sounds like they forgot or the note got lost. If you get a couple of the moveable bar triglides they can be retrofitted without undoing the leather loop, or a seamstress can do it for you for a small fee.

Re: Which way does it go?
With a bit of care remove the bar. Or if you get a normal fixed bar you can saw through the bar, it will still work and it only needs a couple of mm gap to slip it on the loop.
Re: Which way does it go?
KT, the buckle on TOD jackets Wested offers has two prongs?
Re: Which way does it go?
yes it has
