New Nowak style (TOD)

Post by Han Jones »

First let me say this. I make no claims to SA on this jacket. This jacket was based totally on what I asked for based on what I wanted for the TOD jacket. This is Tony current pattern that I am sure will change from person to person. I sent him some pics and took measurements of things to make the the way I felt would look good in a picture but also what was functional. I made my pockets 6/7 because I wanted to use them and I got interfacing. This is made of a goat skin that he said he had for many years so he won't have this hide. He only had enough for 2. This was based on the CS pattern with small pockets and the raiders flap. The side staps are higher like raiders, sleeves like raiders, and collar constuction like raiders only the collar is 3in all the way around. Will someone change things for the next TOD, of course. I got what I wanted from Tony as I always do. I wish for everyone here he had more hide like this. Please remeber I do not claim this to be 100% SA and please don't ask why I didn't just buy one from another vendor that is cheaper. I don't want to get into it. I did this because this is who I want to do business with.

Wat to go! Tony told me about the ToD he did for you. My jacket is the other one made from that same leather. Boy it does look nice and just like my sample.

I must add, Tony says he can copy any of the film jackets. Mine is a Raiders, however, and arrives tomorrow.

I spoke to Tony a bit ago and he told me that this leather was over 15 years old. Raiders S and have the only 2 jackets from that hide. He can find something similar but this leather is vintage. I tell him I want goat, I trust him to use what he feels fits the part.

what I can tell you is that those pockets that you have is the exact size I have made for my TofD wested (which I havent ordered yet) I am still busy making the specs. weird aint it....making the specs I mean..wested had the original and I am sitting here making specs...

anyways, you see now folks? I have kept on saying that wested needs to upsize those pockets. they cant put pockets from a 40 sized jacket onto a size 44 to a size 50.

the 6/7 pockets are THE pockets for a 44. exactly like I thought. han jones prooved it with pictures and they look perfect on on the jacket.

I love the look of the leather.great

but as you said yurself it isnt 100% SA. but that doesnt matter. you still have the spirit of temple of doom in the jacket.

I love the collar.

I could live without the facings though....

the sleeves look thight but good. temple style...

overall it looks like one solid cool jacket.

love it.

LOVE the jacket. In fact pretty much anything Tony makes sets the bar these days!

Now while some love the collar--to me that's the only thing that stands out not SA-- even Wested does the ToD collar wrong. It's too forward pointing whereas the ToD collar is more squared and cut parallel to the shoulder in my eyes.

Still that aside, I'd love to get a TN for all 4 movies!

I also don't really care if it's 100% SA or not, but I really like the sewn up vent and the 2-prong buckle of the ToD jacket. If Tony did those 2 things on this jacket, then he may have another potential customer...

I'm sure he'd do both of them, no problem.

And yeah, AWESOME jacket - vibes TOD more than most of the other shots of TOD jackets I've seen. It just "sits" right. Really nice!

I noticed that the jacket has a limited edition of 555, while his 'Indy I' is 888, and his 'Indy IV' is 666, so does this mean that Tony has officially started offering a ToD line of L.E. jackets? From the original post, I would have thought that this jacket would be a one off...

At any rate, it certainly captures the spirit of the ToD! Well done, Han! And a vintage leather to boot, it just doesn't get better than that.

By the way, to those that asked for a LC jacket to come full circle: if you think about it, the Indy IV jacket is Tony's interpretation of a LC jacket, so the circle IS complete! ;)

Han Jones, very nice jacket! The way the leather drapes is very nice, and it looks like it fits u perfectly.
Interesting now how Tony may be moving up the Indy jacket ladder now with this ToD, and maybe we'll see a LC style jacket too. Thats really fast, from a vendor stand point. Better for all of us though.

what I really like on han's jacket is the collar length. it is so much more closer to what you see on screen. (its really funny, becasue wested had THE original and still the of springs of that jacket looks kinda different.)

That's a fair enough statement. But of the Wested and Nowak jackets that I've owned and worn the comparison stops there - at the computer screen. They just look pretty much the same. After that is the truly big difference.

I totally agree with DCMJ. I have 5 westeds and 4 Nowaks. They are not in the same ballpark. But to each his own, I don't want this to turn into that debate. I can't say enough about this hide. It makes the jacket what it is. As I said Tony will be able to find a similar hide. He is 100% correct when he says that "everyone is an original". That is why I love his jackets. No 2 will ever be the same.

it may not be SA but it sure LOOKS like it is..

BTW, I showed these pics to my wife, and she said you make a decent Indiana Jones. And then said "If I had seen him first...I'd run far away fast, because this Indy gear obsession is a sickness!"

She completely missed the point.

Ever since I saw these pics, I have been wondering (which means another squeeze on my pocketbook  ). I own a Wested TOD which I believe is the most SA jacket when it comes to TODS however, I love the look and texture of Tonys Shruken lamb. Should I just bring my Wested down there and tell Tony to copy the jacket exactly (down to my size and everything) using his shruken lamb leather. Could he do this? The only reason I am asking is because of the specs and patterns. I wouldn't want to burden Tony with the task of making another jacket but since he is making custom requests?...I dont know, what do you guys think? Then I could boast that my TOD jacket is the most SA... \:D/ \:D/
