Pics of my 2007 AB hat #1,000
I never posted pics of my new AB. I received it in 2007 from Steve around the time he was getting his prototypes out for Ford's fittings. It's Raider's style, Cairo approximately. Steve said it was his 1,000th hat. I was wondering if anyone thinks the brim or crown too large? It's a 7 1/4, Ford's size and I'm about his hieght too. My friends and Girlfriend believe it looks a little goofy on me. I understand what they are saying but that's the Raiders style.. Oh, I have since beat it, crushed it, thrown unused cat liter on it, and gave it a super tight pinch. I really don't wear it at all.

"I really don't wear it at all."
Can I wear it?
If they think it looks goofy, then the hat's wearing you, more than you wearing the hat.

It actually looks really good, granted it may look a tad out of place with a short sleeve shirt, but with a long sleeve shirt it looks just fine. I think your head shape and jawline looks pretty good with the taller raiders fedora. Probably better than most people, although of course Mr. Ford has us all beat I think. It's tough to tell, but maybe the brim might look a tad large for some Raiders scenes, but I think it may look about right for the Cairo street scenes the way they are curled up.

I think it looks great on you.
With an overload of "that Indy attitude" you'll look even better

the crown is right, the pinch is right, but the brim looks somehow strange the sides dip down while they should go upwards, while the front part of the brim is way too curved. try to use some steam to stiffen up it and flatten it a bit.
Re: Pics of my 2007 AB hat #1,000
Great looking hat!!! The brim is perhaps slightly too large but only slightly, I wouldn't really take the scissors out for that, unless you really feel comfortable doing it (I did mine). I love its look.

I think it looks right, but if you feel its too big, then its too big. You are wearing the hat, not me. I'd leave it as is, though...my two cents.

Hat looks great, man. But I know what you mean.. my wife and family all bust my chops about how tall and goofy the hat looks on my head. Eh, what are you gonna do right? I just keep wearing it around them and they're all getting used to it. Again though, your hat looks good.

Louisiana,
I saw your "generic Raiders" hat in the other thread.
Your family is just jealous. Don't listen to them.

Rednight, has anyone ever told you that you look like Bill Hader, from SNL?

I think it looks fine, there are many posts about how people feel in their hats, if you like it wear it and enjoy it, that's what I do and at first I felt a little out of place, but my Penman makes me happy and now I feel wierd without it. Keeps me warm here in Illinois and goes with everything.

You've got yourself an insanely nice (AND special) hat, pal...
If I could squeeze my melon into that thing I'd never take it off.

I think it looks perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. It fits your face proportions and it looks good on you. That's all that matters & the relatives & friends are just jealous. Wear it with pride.
Cheers!

Re: Pics of my 2007 AB hat #1,000
Thanks everyone!!! I could cut it down a bit because the brim is a tad larger than the measurements for Ford's in ROTA. However, I don't want to try it. I don't wear it because I don't like, but because I like it so much I that I don't want anything to happen to it with everyday use. It cost $235 and it would cost $400 to replace it..... Not something I would like to do. I want to get a Fed IV for everyday wear....
Again thanks for all the lovely compliments. And thank you Steve for the making such wonderful hats

Wear that hat. It's tougher than the fed. Hats are meant to be worn. Honor Steve's work and wear it with pride. it's a beauty ( as all of his hats).

I don't know what kind of life you do Rednight but a generic city life (meaning a boring one like most of us) offers very little dangers to an adventurebuilt, I can safely say that you shouldn't fear too much of wearing it around.
On the contrary I would be more worried to ruin a Fed, rabbit felts is less durable than beaver and can take much less humidity and distress

First off, Redinight, I have that same "Han Solo in carbonite" shirt, so, you know, high five...
Secondly, I couldn't really say why, as there are plenty of nice ones all over this sight, but if yours' isn't my favorite AB I've seen so far, it's definately in the top three or five. That hat really, really looks good. The way you're hamming it up in the pics says you can carry it off in a day to day way, too .

That hat looks amazing. Love that turn and the super tight pinch.
I've always been a fan of the slighter longer brim, but that's just my preference. Your AB is making my Fed III look kind of scrappy right about now.
When I started wearing my fedora around town, my friends made a ton of jokes, poked their fun and called me "Indy" while singing the Raiders March everywhere I went. They'll warm up to it, along with you to your hat.

Like BendingOak said, wear that baby with pride. I wear my Camptown in the rain without worry. An AB can take it, so honor the art & craftsmanship of Steve.Redinight wrote:Thanks everyone!!!
