Todd's shirt.

Post by hoose55 »

I'm considering getting a Todd's costume Indy shirt. Anyone have one? How's the fit? Is it thin(you know how some shirts are somewhat translucent)? I also like Todd's price. Any input is helpful.

My first shirt was a Todds shirt. Was very impressed. I got a Medium which i thought might be wrong but have been proved wrong. The shirt has a very nice taper to it's middle and is comfortable to wear. It doesn't seem as thin as a Wested shirt. Todds shirt feels so good I pretty much wore it whenevr I could. My only gripe is that it seems a little short but I believe he may be correcting this. Thats my opinion anyway but the best advice would be to go fro it and see what you make of it.
Hope that helps :)

Hey Hoose,

There's plenty of threads on it, but it's my favorite Indy shirt (I also own a Magnoli) and it's actually my favorite anytime shirt, too! I love the color, the fit is fantastic (not baggy at all), and the material is very, very comfortable.

I'm thinking about getting another one!

1- Use the search thread and see that the majority of purchasers are happy/thrilled with Todd's shirt.
2- ORDER the shirt.

I currently own one, my second, and the only reason I sold the the original was because of a fit issue.

I love Todd's shirt. I agree with Shane - the fit is awesome, not baggy in the slightest.

Also - and this is very important to me - it wrinkles like the shirt in the movies. I know, I'm funny that way... :)

It's a nice quality garment - not a flimsy costume piece. I wear it often, and even though it's not recognized as an Indy shirt (since I'm not usually in full gear), I get nice comments on it.

I have wanted to order one for a while but have been waiting for the new longer length redesign. I hope it happens.

Edit: Looks like Todd has added new sizes with longer lengths to boot!

I really like my Todd shirt. The details are really nice and seem pretty SA. The material is excellent, and very comfortable. I wear mine constantly. Its an everyday shirt, and thats what makes it so good. I am debating getting another one, with the new longer sizes. Highly recommend. Once he gets that perfect Raiders colour, it will be one of the best shirts available.

Howdy,

I got one from Todd's last batch of shirts, and I really like it. I ordered an XL which promptly shrunk to a slightly big L; no problem, I ordered big and it now fits me perfectly. Construction is good, look VERY SA except for the color, which was still a bit yellow to me. I took Big Rex's advice and washed it with 3 new pairs of black socks. The color is much closer now.

I have no knowledge about his new run of shirts. Sounds like improved sizing options, but the shrinkage factor and minor color issue are still unknowns until we get some buyer pics/opinions. IMHO, if the color ends up being spot on, I can't imagine a more SA shirt.

Todd gave a very detailed description of his shirt sizing here.

Got two competing recent Todd's shirt threads; I posted before-and-after pics on the other one:

Hey, thanks everybody! I've ordered the shirt and when it arrives, I will proudly post pics. I apologize for not looking for more threads on the subject. I usually go to the fedora and jacket section and maybe a couple other spots. I haven't spent much time in the general gear section.
McFly, thanks and great to hear from you. I'm actually in an Indiana Jones spoof in Long Beach if you want to check it out. PM me.
Raider zee, I now understand the "black socks" thing, and depending on how I feel about the color when the shirt arrives, I just might do that.
Thanks again everybody!

Just got mine the other day, and I love it. The color really pops, and the wrinkles look great. I ordered one of his new half sizes and its a great fit.

The shirt arrived and I love it. It is a perfect fit. I'll post pics soon. The shirt is drying at the moment. I wish it were slightly slate or gray-ish but this isn't any great concern. It's just a really cool shirt.
Thanks, Todd!

I've discovered I've got probably just as many shirts as I have jackets. Now I've taken out the Old Navy and x Army ones as close enoughs and just taken the 4 main names.

Image

The Wested gets eliminated, it's a very serviceable shirt, but it's just too light coloured, and some of the details, especially the very big/long epaulette letting it down.

Surprisingly, the Todd is tonally similar to the NH but is very yellow to the naked eye, it is also very thick and has none of the sheen of the other NH or the AB. It also has a straight epaulette whereas the other two narrow towards the button. The Todds Shirt pockets are big, very similar in size to the Wested. Unlike the other 3 shirts the Todd pleat is a separate piece sewn on, the other 3 have a real folded double pleat.

The NH epaulette button is about an inch closer to the neck as is the AB. The shirt pockets are very similar in size and the way the fabric reacts on the AB is a good recreation of the NH.... but it is also very different. The NH is silky, the AB is linen-like.

The AB looks like the colour we expect, the NH IS the colour of the original.

Image

My ranking.

NH (The king).
AB (If you are in Europe and can't find a NH, it would be my choice).
...
Todds (Makes sense if you are in the US, but the colour needs adjusting. Less yellow, make it slightly pink.)
...
Wested. (If you get it in the shop or as a bundle it is a no brainer, especially if you adjust the colour).

Satipo puts the shirt back on to the turntable and spins it back to Kt.

The deal was for the NH.

KT,
Super helpful thread! Thanks.

Can you comment on size and fit. Todd's Large claims to be the size of the film shirts but how does it compare to the others.

Again, this is all really helpful.

Best,
B
