This is my first post and I'm looking for some assistance. I have a CH legend 57 fedora and I need to see if someone might be able to shape it for me. I know most of you probably do your own shaping with steam and such, but I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I have a couple different photos of the style I'm looking for, so if you think you might be able to help me shoot me a PM.

you'll find that anyone who can shape a hat out there started out just like you did. the bad thing about someone else bashing your hat is that they will bash it per the hat, and not per the owner. that's why alot of folks want their own essence instilled into the hat........i took it a step further....all the way to the hat block.
if you are saavy with the computer, i suggest you try yourself first and then post pics for some constructive criticisms of your bash....i could even walk you through it if you pm me.
the money you save in shipping is far outweighed by the knowledge you get in creasing your own lid........cuz you'll probably want to do it again on a new hat...sometime down the road....or rebash an old one. believe me, it's pretty easy to do a simplistic bash......if you want a more complex bash with a turn and swoop......all the better to do it in front of a mirror and on your noggin. just my 2 cents.........
I agree with G. Bashing a hat is not always easy, but you've got to try and make your mistakes in order to learn: as G said, you could need to do it yourself, someday.
Oak is a true gentleman (as you can see by his generous offer), and even if I never owned a hat made by him, you can be sure he will bash your hat very well. But this does not grant that his bash will fit your face and head. A hat could seem perfect on a noggin and awful on another one.
I don't know if yor hat is floppy or stiff, but in the first case you could attempt to bash it yourself without steam or water and without risking to ruin it. if you need help for a particular style, post some photos or tell us wich movie/scene you're trying to emulate: we can provide tutorials, personal tips and tricks.
give it a try, before you surrender on shaping it yourself ;-)
