Cant get these dang tabs to stay where I want them!
Is this a common problem with Wested D Rings? I tighten the tabs to where I want them, then after a while, they slowly slide out to where they were when I first took the jacket out of the bag.

In that pics it was about 5 months old, only light wear and a couple of applications of pecard dressing (the thick stuff) no artificial distressing. The jacket had been treated about a week previously.Hatch wrote:KT, How many treatments of Pecards would you estimate are on your novapelle.....any other treatment or distressing other than ordinary wear and how old is it ?.....thanks

Check this out:

You can buy 1" sliders in flat (good) or glossy (ok) black. They're not too expensive, and they work better than D-rings. That's what I did to mine, and they work fine! They're easy to install if you just have a pair of pliers to bend them open and closed again with.
The best part - you don't have to send your jacket back to England to get them replaced! ;-) They've worked great on mine. I absolutely recommend them.

I don't know. I just got a OTR Wested Lambskin, with brass rectangle sliders. I also have a US wings vip with D-rings.
These rectangle sliders are far worse, they don't stay put for long at all. I hope Peter will get the buckle like the novak jackt for his SA Raiders jacket.
I really hope he makes an SA OTR Raiders. In my opinion, after looking at the Novak and going through the film frame by frame for three and a half hours... the only serious changes need to be made are:
1) Change the sliders to buckles, stays put, and for SA makes the point on the strap point to the back.
3) No xbox to connect the strap on the front, an empty verticle rectangle. On the back panel connection the rectangle is again vertical with a K or < inside. < opened to the back.
2) Alter the sculpt of the pocket flap again, longer on the sides, less point in the center and more point on the bottom sides
3) Change the positions of flap snaps, move them up slighty about the length of the button because it's too far down in the point.
4) Move the seam on the back of the arm 1.25 inches below the yoke.
5) Back panel should just touch or be on the seam on the sides near the yoke.
Basically, yeah like the novak, or Holt's changes on his pockets and his seam below the yoke. However, I don't really agree with Holt's longer collar... The jackets shifted so much to one side of Harrison in many scenes so much so that does not seem substancial enough to warrent a standard change... That's just my opinion.

great observations rednight......however.....with peter's current offering's the cut is not correct. you would have to gauge that by feel....how the back tries to fall of your shoulders (ie - the shoulder seam should be in the back of the jacket...not right on your shoulders)....and how the shoulders rest snug on your shoulder caps....how the arms are cut higher for a more true fit...the fit of the current pattern feels wrong imo and the OTR jackets are worse. it feels like those are too squarish. that's my 2 cents as i can compare both. but then again, there are folks out there who look better with wested's cut.....eventhough the yoke panel is up too high ;-)Redinight wrote:I don't know. well, truthfully, its not one tiny detail, its alot of tiny details. They are all my fault, nothing Wested did, but, live and learn. Besides the tabs slipping, I should have ordered the sleeves a bit longer, I understand now that shrinking issue people discuss, now that Ive wrinkled up the sleeves. But I also should have gotten cotton sleeves not satin, as the satin keeps sticking out the bottom of the cuff. I think the cotton would have shrunk with the sleeves.
I also feel that I should have gotten the back an inch longer. And, I should have asked here about getting a silver zipper, because the brass one just reminds me of the fact that its not SA. I mean, the whole jacket isnt, because Im not built like HF, but, Im hard on everything.

Is this a universal problem? I just placed a custom order w/ Wested. I ordered it a bit big, especially in the sleeves; planning on hot water treatments. Should I change the sleeve lining to cotton instead of satin?Indiana Joyce wrote:I also should have gotten cotton sleeves not satin, as the satin keeps sticking out the bottom of the cuff. I would never want cotton sleeves, the satin is so rich and fancy feeling It's sooooo comfy.
I don't have the problem of the satin sticking out, however I notice the cotton sticking out on the right near my gut and it sticks out on the left but the storm flap covers it up. It's because of the inside pockets. The leather pocket opening pushes it out, but only by a centimeter at most. Now, I can't remember inside pockets are accurate of not... It's really no big deal to me, and I find it functional to have these pockets.
