I always thought the color was *perfect* ...

I'm wearing a Todd's in this pic:

On topic though - I do remember somebody started a thread on this a while back. I don't remember how it ever turned out (or if it did) but it's worth looking for.

I got it when they first came out. Was that supposed to be greenish?

I seem to recall the thread you are talking about. I think they had a hard time getting the color completely out.
Todds shirts are alot like LLBeans. The color is very fast set.

But hey, whats the worst that can happen? :-k

Using dye is something that needs to be practiced. I've done it a couple of times and it's never worked out for me.

What's the status on this thread? Has any one done a re-dye on a Todd's. Are there pics to be had?

I just got one (fit and material are great - no disappointed at all) and though the color is pretty on for TOD, LCS and CS I do long for that light stone SOC look too. Hence, I'm interested in anyone's experience re-coloring one of these.

Any council would be great.

Last year I spent a lot of money on Rit Color remover. Then I spent a lot of time trying to get the dye out of an earlier and darker run of a Todd's shirt that I have. The color would not lighten at all. I just put darker buttons on the shirt and gave up. However I did buy a lighter colored Todd's shirt recently, and It may not be the color we see on screen, but I like it better than the first one I received.

The new lighter colored Todd's shirt might benefit from a washing machine dye bath with a small VERY small amount of Black dye added to it. Naturally it will make the shirt darker, but you might get the stone color you are looking for. Good luck. You might try lightening the color first. However trying to lighten these shirts may be an incredibly hard struggle and wasted effort.

IJ,
Thanks. This is good advice and gives me piece of mind about following my gut the leaving the shirt as is.

I was wondering if my generation of Todd's shirt was a lighter and less yellow color than what folks have been describing on the boards and this confirms it. I'll be leaving well enough alone.

Again, thanks.
