Cabelas Safari Shirt
So a couple of weeks i ordered a cabelas tan safari shirt size LG. I was really stoked for this to come. When it came i was really suprised at how dark the color was. Now on the website the color looks a lot different.
Here are some photos.
I have not taken it out of its packaging just in case i want to return it. I need some input. Thanks!

Yep. You asked for the wrong color. Khaki is more of a light brown. You want Stone. I'm sure they will exchange it without a hassle.
This is me wearing the stone colored shirt with an authentic brown Wested and a pair of Dockers that are way too light to be SA. The pants are probably lighter than the khaki shirt you have now.

That was actually my first "real" Indy shirt. I had many other shirts before finding this website, but this was my first addition afterwards. I had the buttons replaced, and it is still one of my favorites. This year for Christmas, my nephew gave me one out of the blue. I was completely stoked because I can always use another one of these.

Re: Cabelas Safari Shirt
I noticed this thread hasn't been replied to since January, but I figured it best to post my Cabela's shirt experience here, rather than start a new thread. I hope Cabela's 'stone' color worked out for ya IndianaJack91, as I too was disappointed with their 'tan' actually being more olive drab!
For the past couple of months, I've had an obsession with tracking down and purchasing shirts with epaulettes. I had countless such cotton shirts, in the early '80s, back when I was about 12, until my late teens. I've had this itch for a while now, but have only recently come into the money to assauge my epaulette obsession. To that end, I recently purchased six long sleeved Cabela's safari shirts, one in each color. The review I recently wrote at Cabela's website sums up my experience, so I'll just post that here.
"I recently ordered six long sleeve safari shirts, one in each of the available colors and an additional 'stone' colored shirt. My initial order of six XL sized shirts had to be exchanged. These shirts were definitely larger than my measurements as they erroneously corresponded with the size chart suggestions. Be warned, these shirts run quite large!
Before exchanging my six XLs, I purchased an additional stone colored shirt in size L. Upon recieving that shirt, I was delighted to discover that it fit me perfectly. I then went ahead with exchanging my original order of six XLs for six Ls. The exchange was absolutely hassle free and I'm extremely happy with my safari shirts.
It should be noted, that all seven of my shirts appear as advertised on this website. Not a single one of them has an embroidered 'Cabela's' logo over the left pocket or the right for that matter.
Having worn my stone colored shirt a few times, I can attest to its comfort, amidst the oppressive heat we endure here in Central Florida in midsummer. I was skeptical of the breathablity of these shirts, due to the high polyester count. I would honestly prefer these shirts were either cotton or linen. Yet, having worn one, I have no complaints whatsoever.
I would highly recommend this shirt to anyone seeking a practical, well made safari shirt! I've enjoyed these shirts so much, that I just might buy some in short sleeves as well."
I really, really, really should've dropped back here, at COW, before ordering those XLs. If I had, I'd have been enjoying 'em for a month now, instead of a few days.
Ohhhh... there's something I really wanna run by those of ya who've also got a Cabela's shirt, which I thought was a really cool discovery. I ran out for errands yesterday and got caught in an early evening Florida monsoon, with high winds whipping a torrent of rain horizontally, instead of vertically. I was wearing my 'grasslands' colored Cabela's shirt and noticed something completely unexpected and rather cool. The rain drops actually gathered on the surface of the shirt, instead of soaking it! When I got home, I literally took the shirt off, shook the rain off it and it was absolutely dry within minutes. It was as though the whole thing was covered in 'RainX' or 'Scotchguard'.
Have any of ya gals or guys had a similar experience? And do ya think it was due to the high polyester count? I'm not complaining, as my torso and arms stayed dry, while the rest of me got soaked.
Overall, whilst these shirts are clearly not SA, I'm pretty happy with 'em. I'm thinking a Todd's shirt is next on my shirt list. It's high time I get an SA Indy shirt, to mix in with my everyday wear epaulette shirts.

Re: Cabelas Safari Shirt
Hi Methos,
Glad to hear your overall experience with Cabela's turned out so well. Years ago in undergrad, I worked a summer for them in my home state. They've had a lot of Indy-esque stuff over the years. Although I have a stone safari shirt from them which I really enjoy, for actual traveling and on hot days I prefer their Serengeti Safari shirt. Not as SA as the regular safari, but they are 100% cotton, have more pockets, and you can button up the long sleeves. Don't get me wrong--I wear the regular safari a lot, but the Serengeti shirts from Cabela's are just a little more comfortable for me.
Here's a recent pic in my Forest Green Serengeti at the Huntington Library Chinese Garden near L.A.:
I'm bringing 3 of these over with me to the dig in Israel, so I should have pics when I return next month. I'd be interested to see some photos of the different shirts you got. Enjoy!
best wishes,
Nebraska Schulte

Re: Cabelas Safari Shirt
Great pic Nebraska and the Serengeti shirt looks great!! I hadn't realized that it was a 100% cotton, which I've always preferred for any of my shirts, safari style or otherwise. You've definitely got me tempted to buy one or a few. As for pics in my Cabela's, I'll make sure to wear one when next I get together with a dear friend and we'll make sure to snap a couple of pics. I might get industrious and snap pics in all of 'em, including my two Calvin Klein safaris (which, unlike the Cabela's, tend to run too small...that infernal 'slim-fit' trend which has shot down so many similar options for me ) and my Tasso Elba safari (a personal fave, as it's 100% linen, fantastically comfortable and nicely cut...it even has a seam running top to bottom, from each shoulder). Nice locale you were pictured at as well! Whereabouts is that lovely place?
Edit: Just noticed you were near Los Angeles. Though that begs another question...that's a library's garden??!!

Re: Cabelas Safari Shirt
Thank you so much for the heads up Nebraska!!! That really made me wish I was on the West coast, for a change, as I'm an avowed bibliophile. I've got a collection of roughly 3,000 books (leaning more to the 'more', than the less...as my last count was around 3k) and libraries and proper bookstores are akin to heavens on earth for me. The fact that the place ya visited has a Japanese structure and garden, strikes me as the yummiest wasabi on the proverbially ******** eel roll man!!!
Dave!!!! Pyramidblaster!!!! Great to see ya respond here, my fellow Florida-dwelling COW friend!!! Things have been pleasantly mellow with me of late man. I just wrapped up an unbearably hectic six week summer semester, consisting of two classes with that horrendously limited time span. Now, I've got time to kill...lots of it...until August 24th. I'm nearly done with my degree and I've been living life, in general. How's about you man?
