Aldens and concrete

Post by Marc »

Michaelson, before you come over to kick me where the sun doesn't shine, I USED PECARDS AFTERWARDS!!! :[

Ok, Friday evening when I came home, the sand that my contractor and I had put on the floor of the new hat shop was FINALLY dry, so we could start to egalise the 5" of hight difference, before we covered the entire floor with styrofoam plates, then some foil followed by a metal grid. Saturday we rented a concrete mixer and started putting the new floor in. Since it was freezing cold, we had to use warm water, so the concrete wouldn't freeze in the mixer.

During the entire process from 8am to 9pm I wore my AB Alden boots and to be honest, they looked like @#$% when we were done. So I rinsed them with a cloth and some warm water for 15-20 minutes, let them dry for 25 hours and then gave them a fair amound of Pecards.

Here you can see them before and after the Pecards treatment:

At least you did the right thing by them. ;-)

For having worked concrete, they look surprisingly good.

Yep, me too- I always do dirty, manual labor in $700.00 boots... I save my old, close enough boots for those really dirty jobs, like walking on cotton balls and silk..

Woah - talking about a makeover... That Pecard stuff seems to be THE solution to your leather-problems....

Hmm, if it works that good, maybe I should start using it instead of my shaving soap.

I'm not getting older. I prefer to see myself as "SA distressed."

I don't know...the "before" boot looks far more screen accurate. ;-)

Seriously, that's one heck of an advertisement for Pecards!

They recovered nicely from your abuse my friend, but as Michaelson said:" At least you did the right thing by them"
It's the best pair of shoes I ever had, I'm so happy that I jumped in when the first batch was ordered. I haven't see a pair of shoes with that much attention to detail since my grandfather stopped making shoes.

Cheers,
-K

Wore my Aldens today while replacing the rotting exterior of my garden shed and they looked much like that when I was done. A little polish and Pecards and they're back in business.

No the "before" is on the right and the "after" is on the left...

Of course Marc wore these "before" so technically they could both be considered "after" following a "before" that isn't pictured...

So for all intensive purposes they are both after...If that's the way you want to look at it...Kinda like that whole chicken or egg thing I guess..

But seriously the before picture is on the right as Marc wore them to put a concrete floor in his shop...The pair on the left is what they looked like after he had done his Pecards and cleaning job to it...

Here is my pair of AB's...Not as beat up as Marc's pair and I plan on taking great care of mine anyway...I put a coat of Pecards on these when I first got them as well as a coat of shoe cream...

I was wondering if you were just not thinking about your shoes when you started the work, or was it intentional?
