Pictures of my late-90's vintage Westeds.

Post by DeWayne »

First I'll get the obvious out of the way; Why do I have so many? I don't know.... After tragedies some people turn to drink or drug. After losing my brother I turned to buying Indy jackets. I had originally intended to wear them all occasionally, but wound up mainly just wearing the first two Raiders. One much more than the other.

While these are good for seeing details of the way things were, they're bad for trying to judge any kind of proportions. I'll show an example of this with the ToD jacket. My gripes with the ToD and LC jackets are many, for what are obvious reasons these days. These pics are very large.

First is my main jacket that I've worn through every Winter since '98. I've shown this jacket quite a few times. The distressing is about 95% natural. I've not shied away from anything in this jacket.

A Raiders I've worn ccasionally. Same shipment as the first. Notice this one has a rounded storm flap at the top while the others are square. Luck of the draw.

ToD. From 1999. The second front pic is just to show how much the lens and slight angle warps the proportions of the jacket. None of the pockets are as big as they look in most of these pics.

LC. 1999. Don't get me started on the collar....

Since my ToD and LC were basically archived, decided to do it with a Raiders as well. I really like everything about this jacket. 1999 or 2000.

I hope my madness has resulted something interesting for those wanting to see how some of the old Westeds looked when they were new. If there are any request for detail pics I'll try to take those for you. Thanks for looking.

Hey DeWayne,

Thanks for posting the pics. My particular favorite is your main jacket. Love the natural distressing!

Beautiful! Makes me heartsick for the one I sent in for repair (1998 lambskin Raider).

Thanks for posting those. Very interesting.
I like your most worn Raiders.
Other than the snaps on the flap the LC kind of reminds me of the unused Raiders stunt jacket from the Cooper collection. Maybe it's just the placement of the side straps at the pocket.

So that means I have to ask. What happened to the one you sent in for repair? I suppose you mean sent to Wested.

The jacket was fine, the lining was shot. It was satin, now it's kind of like cobwebs.
