Hello everyone! My name is Allen, I have been reading your posts for several months and have held off from posting until I got up to par with my whips and got some experience of my own with them. I have always had a “cheap” whip to work with over the years , but until recently, and thanks to my lovely wife, I have finally obtained the status quo of whip makers in my humble opinion ( a 10ft David “Meagan” Morgan and a 10ft Terry Jacka Australian model). I also have my name on the list for a 10ft Terry Jacka “J” series KOTCS whip, going to be a while on that one though due to waiting list. My background in weaponry stems from my various martial arts experience over the years. I look forward to talking to all of you and learning all that I can.

Just remember, a whip is not a weapon. It is a useless and incredibly expensive piece of leather to drape off your waist and pretend you are a movie hero!!!!!

Just kidding. Welcome and enjoy your whip! From what I hear, those Morgans work like a dream. I'd love to get one someday myself.

Thanks Maboot! The morgan is really something, it took a long while to get used to it. I feel very fortunate to own the two, I just happened to be in the right time at the right place to get them. I had originally made up my mind to buy a strain series, but I really lucked out.

Thanks Scott!I have been very fortunate to get to study in several styles: Akido, Parker Kenpo Karate, Traditional Tae Kwon Do, and a small amount of Kung fu. I have trained in the art of Kendo, Escrima stick fighting, Sayok Kali, and a little bit of Bo staff work.

I got in to whip cracking directly after the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I begged my parents for a bullwhip and they got me one, an 8ft Mexican 4plait swivel handle the same year for Christmas. It did not come without a price though, the first night I got it, I took it outside to try a crack (I was very young kid), I tried to do what I now know as the “cattlemen's crack” but popped myself right in the top of the ear! It actually cut a small chunk out of it. So I sat down and slowly worked out what I could and could not do with it since at the time there were no books or anything that I could get my hands on. Eventually I got the hang of it and started doing target shots and other things with it. I kind of put it down after it fell apart for a few years until I came across another 14ft swivel in a saddle tackle shop. I bought it and started working with it. It was way too long so it got just a limited use. Years later, I would have a chance to buy what I always wanted: the David Morgan bullwhip, I finally got it and now I am pretty much starting from scratch again. I am just thankful that I have all of you folks to draw from to correct my techniques!
