NH Shirt Material

Post by ij1936 »

Does anyone know what type of cotton material Noel had his shirts made out of? I've heard it was Egyptian cotton, and I've had shirts made in that material but there is a marked difference in the weight and feel of the shirts. The ones that I had made are heavier than Noel's shirts. I like the material that Noel used. Thanks

Hey ij1936,

This thing you ask is very hard. Most costumers would die before telling you who their suppliers are. As a small costumer (The Galactic Tailor), I struggle with this. People always want to know where you get your fabric from. I'll tell you now that it has taken me two or three years to find some fabrics, and just handing that research over for free is somewhat galling. To answer your question though, I don't know what fabric was used by Noel Howard or where to get it. Sorry.

In the old Indygear site, if my memory doesn't get me wrong, it was written:

100% Mercerised Swiss Cotton...is that possible :-k ?? It's quite strange because in Switzerland you can hardly find cotton. Maybe his suppliers were Swiss or the cotton was processed in Switzerland? :o

Perhaps my memory is incorrect and it is Swiss.

Yes I remember it being Swiss Cotton although it doesn't necessarily mean that it is actually made in Switzerland. Maybe it's made in Egypt because it costs less from there but the kind of texile is called Swiss Cotton. I don't know anything about texile, just supposing.

Has anyone ever brought a NH shirt to a professional high-end tailor and asked them if they can tell (or even guess)?
