$20 leather jacket!
I got one of these jackets from Leatherthatworks.com. $20, $7.25 shipping. It's pretty nice. The zippers and snaps may be on the cheap side, but they are brass and steel and work. The leather is bits and pieces sewn together in a smooth fashion. You could argue the workmanship would make it cost $500, but it makes it dirt cheap. I think it's styled a little like an Indy jacket... The front pockets have side entrys (not clear in the picture) The pocket flaps are just decorative- there're no pockets under them, but the zippered pockets above the flaps are real. There's an inner breast pocket, and sandwiched under it is a second pocket with a vertical nylon zipper. There is no action back, but, there is a horizontal seam running from shoulder to shoulder like an Indy jacket, and a 12 inch wide rectangular pannel under that, which is at least very slightly suggestive of the Indy pannel. The elastic waist is just at the sides, and there's 10 inches of non elastic waist in back. ...I didn't post this in the Jacket forum, because it's not that close, but if you are on a budget, or just can't resist a deal... There are other similar style "Patch leather" jackets out there for $30, I even saw a brown one somewhere, but the elastic waist was all the way around. The finish on my jacket looks better than on the one pictured, which has some bluish spots. Mine is a very even deep black everywhere, very shiny. Like this $30 one from heartlandamerica.com I'd guess it's the same manufacturer. Who knows what the back looks like?

Yeah.... looks like it was distressed with a pocket knife. .... These brown ones- (yeah, that's a patch leather jacket) were all over that big auction site, using this picture, for I think $30, but I guess they all sold out over the holidays. This one is being resold at a profit. Unsnap the cuffs, cut the stitches in the elastic waist and it would look more Indy. This guy forgot to fold the collar half way up. By the way, I love my Wested, but it has a limited temperature range when it's comfortable - this style of jacket is just more usefull in winter. (I've had a non patch leather one for a year.) The wind doesn't blow up your waist. Or up your arms, unless you unsnap the wrists. (The $20 one I bought has 2 snaps per cuff for a lot of adjustability).blueoakleyz wrote:I like the idea of a patchy jacket

Did I say $20? .. My bad... How about $16.95? ... for a genuine lambskin somewhat Indy style jacket? (You'd have to buy 3 to get that price.) I notice this brown jacket doesn't have the zipper flap, and probably has a nylon zipper. http://www.jilliandistributors.com/cata ... -15-1.html

How so was it most comfortable? It's butter soft leather? Superior cold protection? Fit? ... Why isn't there a $20 Patch Leather Indy Jacket???.... Someone hop on a plane to China, and take care of that please. . Make your fortune in the process..Imahomer wrote:I used to have one of those patch work jackets. I had it when I was about 20 years old, so it was a long time ago. I remember it being very stiff when I first got it, but in a short amount of time it got very soft and had that "lived in" look. Once it got soft, it was a very comfy coat. I know it was the luck of the draw, but the jacket fit me like it was custom made. Superior cold protection? Ummm... I don't think so.3thoubucks wrote:How so was it most comfortable? It's butter soft leather? Superior cold protection? Fit? ... Why isn't there a $20 Patch Leather Indy Jacket???....
