How long will leather jacket season last?

Post by blueoakleyz »

at least, in california?

Cuz I'm still waiting on my replacement jacket and I want to wear it for a long time before it gets too hot. Oh it's goatskin if that matters. And I also want to get a Todd's jacket but it may be too hot for it by the time I do.

Hey, if HF can wear his heavy CS cowhide in the humid, stifling heat in Peru (actually Hawaii), you can certainly wear yours anywhere.

BTW, I've worn my Todds in Sand Diego last month and it was quite comfortable in 80+ degree weather. (Great thing about Todd's is that it's paper-thin so it's like wearing a leather T-shirt).

Im in the south so my LC Wested horse has been getting quit a bit of use the past few months. Once the hot humid days of spring and summer arrive here in Tenessee, the jacket goes back up on the hanger in my prop display.

Same here, but I shift gears and pull out my cloth Wested Raiders to fill the gap. ;-)

I'm in Los Angeles and wear my Westeds about 6-7 months out of the year. I only put them back on the hanger when it gets REAL warm here, typically April or May-September. IMO, the heat helps to soften the leather and mold the jacket to your body - at least that's what I tell myself. :) My lamb and goat jackets never seem too thick to wear, even in those warmer temps.

Kind regards,
Craig

Leather jacket season for the true adventurer is all year round. In the summertime? You unzip it and go, even if you're dealing with a tropical rainforest type climate.

In the wintertime? Unless you're going to be somewhere colder than Nepal, you zip that puppy up and go (you may add leather gloves to your ensemble).

Anything else is wimping out. 8) ;-)

I was in Paducah KY in July...can't picture myself wearing a HH LC jacket, it was painfully hot, though awesome storms at night. Maybe I might wear my Todds Raider.

Go Wildcats!!!

Where I am at in Ca, it'll start getting too warm for leather sometime in March/April. Which is about the same time I can expect my Aero Horsehide. ](*,)

Oh well I can sleep in it at nights until it get too hot to help break it in for the next Fall.

I have a tendancy to run cold, so eventhough I'm in the S.F. bay area, I can wear my jacket all the time except during the heat of summer.

Only if you match it up with a cool looking scarf.

And IL, I was a Governor's Scholar out at Murray State the summer after my Junior year. Hot and humid doesn't even begin to describe it out that way.

I remember a guy from I went to school with years back, and his daily uniform was a black leather jacket and shorts year-round. 90+ or -0 it never changed.

I'm sure blueoakleyz has more class than wearing a leather jacket and shorts all year!
