need help on making decision...

Post by azuma »

Hello guys,

I am planing to get another Wested LC jacket, and wonder if I should go for the Authentic Lambskin or Lamb-touch cowhide or new finish cowhide. Any ideas? Or you have better suggestions?

Best,

Authentic Lambskin, I don't own one, but everyone else seems happy with it.

It depends on what skin your current Wested is made of.

Agreed with that comment. I'd say a tossup between the lambskin and lambtouch, considering those are 2 of the 3 choices, and the lightest weight offerings that Peter makes. I own an authentic lambskin, and have been very pleased with it so far. I've owned the lambtouch in the past, and was pleased with it as well. Depends on what you're wanting. The lambtouch is cowhide, and therefore a bit tougher in the abrasion resistant column, but the lambskin is VERY comfortable and perfect for our usual 'urban archaeologist' that tend to prowl the grocery stores and local malls instead of the local forests and jungles of our areas.Either one of those will server you well, in my opinion. For what it's worth, I have an authentic lambskin and it's fantastic.

BUT I am waiting to take delivery of a new authentic goat; Wested tell me the colour is an exact match for the lamb, plus it's better in rain, plus it's warmer, plus..(phew - that's a lot of pluses! ) it's really tough and hardwearing, a real adventure jacket!

Seriously, I think it depends what you are going to use the jacket for. If you are going to wear it to the office or a night out with friends etc., get the lambskin, it's great. But if you also want to wear it when camping, walking or whatever, get the goat or the cowhide for toughness and durability.

It's a tough choice!

I'm awaiting a new cow.
I figure its tough and warm, and is (I believe from reading others posts) better looking than the goat. It is slightly less durable than the goat, which to my way of thinking means that over time it will probably distress better.

Are you planning on using it outdoors or indoors ?

The lambtouch cowhide would be an interesting middle ground.

Thank you guys!!! It is a really tough decision to make. I have LC lambskin, and since it looks kinda different than the one in the movie, I wanna get an extra one that is as close to the original prop as possible. I asked Peter yesterday about which skin is close to the original and his answer is Authentic Lambskin which is used on the oringinal prop, but from the pic I see in his website. Authentic Lambskin looks pretty light in color. It looks tan to me. What about the real product? thank you so much for your attention.

My authentic lambskin and my goat are exactly the same color jacket. So much that if they are together in the closet when I go to grab one, I have to tell which is which by feel. They are a dark brown which in some light looks more brown/black. My goat I got from Cabinetman and has already been put to the test sliding down a cliff side, through thorn bushes, downpouring rain. All I did was coat it with a light Pecard lotion when I got it, and after all the abuse in the last two months I treated it yesterday and it looks exactly like the day I got it in the mail. The lamb I took on vacation to Wisconsin and it is a great early fall jacket but I was paranoid it'd get snagged, pulled, or breathed on wrong.

I was concerned about that too but having seen both the Authentic Lamb and Authentic goat, I can assure you they are definitely not tan. In fact, just like the films, they tend to show up very dark in photos as well as video.
