Snow day project; a little work on my fedora.

Post by Weston »

Did a little work on my fedora last night. The light colored ribbon was really bugging me, more than it should since I'm the only one who cared, so I took it off and dyed it. Here's how it worked out:

After.

A little thing like that can make a HUGE difference! I liked how it looked before, but like it even better now. It turned out to be a bigger job than I anticipated, because I cut through the stitching holding the sweat band in while trying to remove the ribbon. I re-installed the sweat (much cursing involved!) and then finished the project. I don't know it it was worth the frustration (digging through the carpet countless times for lost needle, etc.) but it turned out well in the end. I did aquire some new skills on this little project that will no doubt serve in the future.

That new ribbon really makes the hat look better. An excellent job and a beautiful hat. Is that your Beaver Brand?

Howdy,

Oooh, is that the standard ribbon on Jimmy's Raiders? I definately do not like the color. I thought it was darker from some of the other pics posted. My JPD Raiders is on order. Is this something Jimmy could/would/should address before it's too late, or will I just have to dye/replace the ribbon?

i had to chuckle a little about your frustrations in installing the sweat.....i've been there

Thanks! Like I said above, I did like it before the change, but I just couldn't leave it alone. I've seen so many great pics of Jimmy's hats lately with dark ribbons I had to do it.

Really nice job. I can totally understand the desired to switch ribbons but it really had a nice, different look before. You just need to come up with a way to make the ribbons interchangeable.

Good idea crismans, but this is the original ribbon, dyed almost black. I could get another fedora and just leave it alone, how about that idea?
