Marions boots KOTCS

Post by Raider Of The Lost Ark »

Just watched the movie again and saw that, just before they drive off the cliff, Marions boots appear to be Aldens. Not sure if this has been discussed before but are they the same as Indy wears? Maybe she kept his after he left after ROTLA :) Does anyone know? Thanks!

I don't think we've ever reached a conclusion, but here are the other 2 threads from the past that we've had. They should help jump start your research. I think we decided they weren't Alden 405s, based on their having too many eyelets. Still could be something by Alden though.

As much as I love the idea that she kept his boots after Raiders (I'm a romantic that way) the "footwear expert" in me is thinking that in order for Marion to wear Indy's old boots, she'd have to wear a ladies 12, which in 1936 would've been next to impossible as women's feet weren't that big back then. Especially someone as petite as Karen Allen. She seems like she's maybe 5'4 or so, so for her to wear a 12...just wow.

Looking waaaaay too deeply into this....

Schmidty, any info from Alden? Maybe they made some ladies 405s for her?

Next person who gets an autograph from her should ask if she noticed the brand of the boots she wore.... funny question? Not really, it's the kind of thing women remember!

That women remember that kind of thing, or that we would ask?

Oh That's a great idea!! Seriously, that sounds sarcastic, but I am serious. I will call Alden on Monday and ask. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm sure if Karen Allen was asked that question, she'd look at you like you had an arm growing out the side of your head, then probably laugh very sweetly, and say "I haven't the faintest idea". I have my mission now...

Haha that women remember- but then again, I guess it's kind of like how we remember EVERY little detail about Indy's gear

Sorry- just read the last part of Schmidty's post- I talked to Alden about 2 months ago and asked if they could confirm Karen Allen's shoes as being Aldens and I even sent them screen caps. They did not know of anyone wearing them except Harrison and couldn't confirm or deny her shoes as being 405s (I even asked if they could have been modified 405s, but no dice) :?

Depending upon who you believe, Karen Allen is reported to be 5'5" to 5'7" tall. Either way, a size 12 seems highly unlikely.

I met Karen Allen last summer and the above measurements seem about right. She was wearing high heeled clogs, so she was about my height with them on and I'm 5'10 1/2".

I met her last february and she seemed shorter than me by a couple inches at least...and I'm like 5'8 and a half. Who knows...? When I said petite...I didn't necessarily mean short, she's just um, not a big girl. I am going to shut up now before I dig myself any deeper...

Dictionary.com defines "petite" as "(of a woman) short and having a small, trim figure; diminutive," so I'd say your use of the word was appropriate. Regardless of her actual height, her feet do not appear to be disproportionately large.

According to the site I found it on it was taken at the Cannes Film Festival.

I didn't think it would be too difficult to find a decent photo of Karen Allen from head-to-toe, but I looked at several pages of Googled images before I found the right one. Most of 'em were head shots, movie stills, or were taken from angles that didn't show the size of her feet in relation to her height. I even found one website that was exclusively about celebrities' feet. :-s I guess the Internet has something for everybody.
