Close-enough pants color

Post by Indiana Green »

I'm planning on ordering a pair of LLBean pants, but I'm not sure which color is closer to SA. Opinions? I'm starting to think Dark Khaki is closer.

Well, I suppose you could make a case Dark Khaki is closer for CS/LC, but I think taupe is closer for Raiders (you'll have to get a different pants, since Taupe isn't available in the version you're linking)

For those specific pants, yes. Dark Khaki is it. The regular khaki is much too light.

If you can deal with microfiber, though, take Baldwyn's suggestion. LL Bean carries a taupe in the microfiber chinos. It's the closest color they have.

One other thing to note--the dark khaki is not nearly as dark in person as it appears on their website, nor does it have the brownish hue; IMO it's only slightly darker than regular khaki.

I bought a pair of L.L. Bean's Classic Fit dress chinos because they don't offer the microfiber in my inseam length. I used two bottles of Rit liquid dye--dark brown and cocoa brown--to get the dark khaki closer to the correct color. Dyeing these pants is a bit problematic as they don't retain the dye well (probably because of the "stain resistant" treatment), but they turned out well enough for a Halloween costume.

I have the LL Bean microfiber taupe and love them. Yes, they're not the material but for wearing here in FL, it works for me.
