cleaning a ribbon....

What is the best way for removing Fuller's Earth from the ribbon and bow on a hat?

Good question. I like to hear different techniques. I used my hat brush and was able to get most of it out. I also tried a small dust buster and that worked pretty good as well. You just need to be careful and gentle.

Would a lint brush work, by any chance?

I was wondering the same thing except mine was covered in real dirt. I just used a small amount of soapy water and my ribbon is back to normal but I sure there is a better way to clean it.

I don't think so, as it seems to be the bristles that help remove the Fuller's Earth. Is the lint brush the adhesive kind, fabric or rubber? I imagine a lint brush, depending on what kind you are using, might just make it worse. The tape style might remove some superficial dust, but at the same time might damage the ribbon. The fabric lint brush would probably just work the FE in deeper. I've never used the third style, so I couldn't tell you what it would do.

I can't say about the lint brush, whipitgood, as I don't have one. I was just inquiring to see if I needed to make a trip to wally world.

I think I might just try cleaning the ribbon with my hat brush and a damp wash cloth.

I have not used Fullers on my hat either but I have read that if you have a small hand held vacuum cleaner or shop vac. that the fullers comes off easily. I think that a small can of compressed air may do the job as well.
