The most SA wested raiders jacket since the film!

My leather Wested goat smells like leather.
You know... I've got the bug BAD.
How likely will Peter take it when I call him to tell him to copy all your specs and toss out everything else I sent him before? He's still sourcing the lighter shade goat, so they have NOT started cutting the leather for my jacket, so it's not like it's a re-do.
If I'm already "in line" to have my jacket started, it shouldn't matter if I change the pattern, right?
But, that's just "my" point of view. Peter just may see it differently.

I'm sure I've driven Peter and Gemma crazy with some last minute changes. It never fails that I'll order something and find out some new bit of info here that changes everything.
As long as your jacket isn't cut, they've made all changes graciously.
(This is how I found out my ToD has been cut, incidentally).

These are Holts's interpretation of how he sees the Raiders jacket when it's designed to fit his specific body size / proportions. They're not supposed to be a copy of the Nowak jacket.

Wested 44R back length is 25.50.
So if your's is 25 means that you only cut the 0.5 inch, i.e. your jacket doesn't comply with the TN jacket in which the front length equals the back length?
Please let us know.
Hey Holt, that's an awesome jacket !
Could you show us a shot whit the jacket zipper up? I'd like to see how big seems the collar that way.
Also I'd like to know how is the finish in this new soft goatskin compare it whit lambskin in terms of shine and color. For my new jacket I doubt between goat or washed goat.
Thank you and enjoy it!! ;-)

Very nice jacket!
If you'd like to post the specs in my Raider's jacket specs post (with the other 'heavy hitters' of the site) just let me know. I'd be happy to do that for you.
As to the colar, it looks an awful ,ot like mine... I did not go for a specific screen-like look, but rather just sized the collar to fit over a properly sized dress shirt. I wear a 15.5 dress shirt, so I sized the collar at 18. here's a pic of my Horse Hide version: (Note I am wearing the jacket off my shoulders like Ford does quite often in this shot)
To anyone ordering, I'd suggest something similar, as a smaller or larger neck measurement will greatly affect the way the collar appears on YOUR jacket. Basically echoing what Holt is saying and why he is reserved in 'spilling the beans' of his super-spec jacket. It might look down-right BAD on you...
Also, don't forget that you would need to scale up (or down) the pocket dimensions as needed to keep the same relationships of pocket size to surrounding real estate.
So, as with all the jacket specs, please remember to adjust for your body type and size before placing that order. Holt's looks so great because he took the time to see how the jacket fits, rather than just how it looks. I tried to do the same thing, but fell a bit short...
Please see this post: viewtopic.php?t=35782&highlight= for more information on the jacket specs that I collected going back to 2000 or so on this site.
Holt, if you want your specs there (and I hope you do) please PM them to me and I will take care of it for you.
Congratulations again, Holt!

and now its dry.
it has shrunken a bit.but that doesnt matter.it fits perfect now.
I took this with the shirt on.I am not wearing the jacket of the back.its on me how its suppose to sit,and still the collar looks like it does on film.I am 100% convinced that this is how the collar is on the film jacket.

you want this on your jacket? then ask for the Holt collar or Holt yolk...Peter will do the rest.

This jacket just keeps getting better, Holt. Now that you've knocked the new off of it, it really looks like Ford took it off after the Temple scene and tossed it to you. That research on the collar and yoke really paid off (plus your other adjustments).
I've got a jacket with the Holt yoke specs. My next one will have the Holt patented yoke, collar, steely gaze, and hands of death specs. ;-)

I guess its a Raiders thing... but it looks a bit small and short IMO.
A perfect Raiders jacket fit, zipped up, often looks tight at the straps on the side... and the panels spread open alot, making that upside down V.
maybe Raiders only meant for a partial zip??
anyway sorry Holt, no disrespect. most likely my own frustration that as winter approaches my jacket feels too tight...

I wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't zip up too well. Holt looks broader in the chest than most, certainly much broader than Ford in Raiders. Good thing it looks so good unzipped! This jacket makes me look at my own jackets sadly, sad at what could have been, had I waited until I saw this! The collar is just as important as the pockets, I now realize.
geez Platon..
i WILL someday..
I never actually wear the jacket all the way zipped up..so I keep on forgetting to take pictures of it while zipped all the way up.

If anything, Tony's jacket has raised more questions than it has answered for me. I would love to see a picture of the original jacket as I am sure Tony has some. I have had lambskin jackets shrink almost 2" in length and go from a jacket that fits great, to a jacket that is WAY too small. I would think that jacket has shrunk over time for sure and that we are basing "the jacket that matters" on a misconception.Indiana Holt wrote:well..there isnt anything to speculate about it.....Tony had the original.
Holt, your jackets always look great though. How did you allow the jacket to dry? I generally get shrinkage when I air dry lamb although many do not. I had my last few in a climate controlled office and they still shrunk.
I think that the last pictures show your jacket on the borderline of a perfect fit. You may be one rainstorm away from having it not fit right. That is one worry I have about my Wested lambs. You can take a few years to get it perfect and then it gets wet and all bets are off.

Thanks, Holt. I look forward to it. One of the reasons that I'm interested in post-soaked zipped pics is to see how much impact it had on the sizing. I thought the fit on the non-soaked looked perfect. The after pics do make the jacket a touch smaller to me but it's hard for me to gauge just how much with the jacket unzipped. I never had the nerve to soak any of my jackets thus far but your results look fantastic. However, since I DO wear my jackets zipped from time to time (especially on the motorcycle - the flapping would be unbelievable if I didn't zip it up!) I would like to know if I would need to size up my order in anticipation of potential shrinkage. I have seriously broad shoulders! Did you calculate this anticipated slight shrinkage into your order before you placed it with Peter? I appreciate your input as you have one of the best jackets that I've seen yet from Peter's shop!
From this set of pictures, Holt, I can say that it definitely resembles my jacket "new-look" included hehe.
Send it to me and I'll take some comparison pictures.... only I cannot guarantee the return of it
;-)

I've wondered that if the TN jacket was used in the outdoor scenes if it was the jacket Ford wore when he jumped into the river? Wouldn't a complete soaking shrink it up quite a bit and also have an effect on the leather, especially the salt water? Then you have to take into consideration that if it's the same jacket whether or not they had it cleaned after being soaking in salt water which could possibly be a second soaking if they washed it instead of a dry clean. There are many speculative perameters but I do agree with Rick and Coronado that there are more questions, especially relating to the sizes. A 4" difference is not something slight.

For my own sanity check, is this a worry/observance about Wested lambs because those (Wested) are the only ones that you have tried and maybe another vendor's lambskin jacket you had did not shrink as much or is it because you only have had Wested lambskin jackets thus far? I'm certainly not a leather expert but I would think it (shrinkage when wet) would be a worry with any maker's lambskin jacket and not just Wested.rick5150 wrote:

I'm just trying to educate myself here. Someday I will get the nerve to try this on one of my jackets. The question will be - which one?
I am actually suprised that Wested's goat shrank. The body looks good but the sleeves now look short.
Was it just a shower treatment or full blown full cycle wash?
The overall look is still the best one yet. Now you just need to get the collar of the jacket to consistently hang lower on your right side.
