Post by D »

I was specifically thinking and screen accurate LC. Since he seems to have a pretty good following with his other jackets, and if anyone he MIGHT be able to get ahold of some screen used jackets, do you think that would be a good idea? Or do you think he is about done with this Indy stuff and move on to other projects?

i think his CS is 'close nuff' to the LC as wested's LC was patterned against the same jacket iirc. the only noticeable difference that i see is in the CS collar.......and the LC jackets pockets were adjusted for the diary. this is how i understand it.

I was thinking less about the style or cut (as you said they are pretty similar) I was thinking more about the the actual leather and distressing. I love the distressing job on the LC jacket, and if anyone can replicate it, it would be TN.

Personally, I don't think Tony should replicate any other jackets unless he is going to sell them for the same price as everyone else. I have a TN jacket and I love it, but I really don't feel like shelling out $800- $1000 for a different style jacket

Hey, as long as people are willing to buy he should make whatever they want... ahhh, capitalism :)

well let's face it, the reason he's charge that $800-1000 is because of how expensive the shrunken lamb is. People who've bought his Raiders jackets in different leathers report only spending $700. -M

$700 is a lot of money, true, but people go through a lot of Westeds trying to get the one they want, it seems.

I still like thinking of it as two jackets; the TOD/Raiders one he leaves on the Bantu Wind (had a bullet hole in it anyways), and the LC/CS replacement.

Speaking of the bullet hole, is anyone going to be daring and put a round in the left shoulder of their jacket to be completely SA? I am actually considering it...does that make me a bad person?

...no it just means your jacket is holey! ;-)

I always thought it was around the left rotator cuff?

if its a LC jacket you are intrested in having Tony to replicate? then I wouldnt exactly understand that.

wested is the maker for LC and they make the best LC IMO.

you just have to give them the specs you want to have on it,and then your good to go

Actually I think it's his RIGHT side....... isn't it? :-k

Maybe Tony could do his own version of the ToD jacket though.

The CS doesn't look much like the LC jacket to me. Those pockets are so, so different. Key to the LC look.

I actually had a member (no longer here) who once sent me a PM asking if he should be wearing the jacket, or hang it on a hanger when he fired his 9mm Mauser into the arm to make it SA for the Raiders truck chase.

I told him it was probably a bad idea either way due to the fact it would more than likely void any warranty the jacket had. He agreed, I'm happy to say, and I never heard from him again. #-o Not sure if we should read anything into that absense, though. :-k

That had to be one of the oddest question I've received to date.

OUCH! Now that is some world class OCD!

I like that you used the "void the warranty" bit.... As if that is his only concern!

Back to the ques at hand: I think I read that Tony would do the jackets in any leather? If so, One could order a CS in lamb and have him distress the seams/chest and have a pretty accurate LC... Maybe some custom LC pocket specs would help as well.

Unless of course the LC jacket was made with cowhide already, as many here have speculated, which would in essence make an Indy IV jacket also an Indy III jacket.

Well, if you think about it, is that so bad compared to what most gearheads already do to their jackets? Washing machines, drying machines, running over them with cars, sandpaper, swiss army knives... It's not really all that far removed, if you ask me! :P

Being asked if I think someone should shoot themself in the arm to be SA is a bit more over the top than running over a jacket with a car, in my opinion. ;-)
Some of your examples silly, that's true, but this other is a possible candidate for the Darwin awards. I would never say that about an active member, ever, but this guy has been gone for years, so I have no problem saying that out loud now.

Yeah, but the lc jacket was not of the Pre-Distressed cowhide variety (that we can see) So a TN in a dark brown cowhide distressed on the seams/etc. would be appropriate as well for a LC.

Ah, my bad, I misread the last post. I thought you were talking about wearing it and shooting the jacket without actually shooting your arm, but... that's a different story...

Probably not, seeing how Indy would more than likely be dead and it would be pointless to dress up as Indy for halloween or whatever and just lie motionless on the floor

With the kind of money we fork over for these jackets, I'm somewhat surprised occasionally with what people will actually do to their jackets. Water takes natural oils out of the leather, while leather lotion puts it back in.

If he was wearing a G&B, it would probably just dull the blade.

There is a good case for the notion that the LC jacket was actually lamb:

Compare the two photos of the Tod jacket with the LC jacket. Wested made the Raiders jacket using lamb. The top photo is KT's close-up of the ToD jacket, made of lamb. Wested made the LC jacket, and based on these two photos and his stating that he made the LC in lamb....

Yeah, the LC appears to be a Lamb that is thicker and puffier. Kind of like US wings' lamb Indy jackets. Much thicker than wested's lamb hides.

I'm leaning towards this belief myself. It just looks too significantly thicker than the RotLA and the ToD. :-k

Wested made a Raiders Lamb. ToD was lamb. Wested made the LC jacket, and Peter states it was lamb. Comparison photos show very similiar likenesses between ToD and LC....My new authentic brown is a thicker Raiders lamb. If it were distressed, probably would have similiar characteristics. Remember the motorcyle scene in LC, jacket flapping around? Maybe a thicker lamb is the missing link?

OK, I just have to ask... are you SURE he wasn't kidding? I mean, what is someone who would seriously have to ask the question doing with a firearm of any kind?!?! WEAR IT WHILE YOU SHOOT IT!?!?

And if anybody seriously wants a "bullet" hole, why not just go to the darn hardware store, buy a dowel of the right diameter for the bullet, sharpen it like a big ol' pencil, stuff a pillow in the arm, and stab your jacket really hard in the arm (while you're NOT wearing it!) The Wested lamb is probably soft and thin enough that it'll go right through with just a little muscle behind it. A lot less noise, a lot less dangerous, and no 5 day waiting period... but then again, what do I know?

the knife wouldn't do a thing to the hide because it'd be too jealous of how much more shiney the jacket was compared to its stainless steel blade :P
