specifically goatskin, if it makes a difference.

Is it so dark it looks black, or can you tell it's clearly brown?

You can tell it's clearly brown. Doesn't look black. I've had both a Wested and Flightsuits, and they are both clearly brown.

Dark brown only looks black in certain lighting i.e. the Chachapoyan Temple, pretty much anywhere in The Temple of Doom that is not outside, Petra, and the Cemetery scene

It depends on where you buying the jacket from. U.S. Wings goatskin is really dark, almost black. I've seen pictures of Wested goatskin and it is clearly brown.

I have a vintage cowhide USW and it is a fine leather. You'd probably want to treat it with some Pecards right away, though. It can be very dry.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much. If you dont like the color, you can always exchange for that nice LE vintage goatskin A-2. That one is definetly brown. :)

Actually, that looks like the color of my former USW goatskin Indy jacket. But if you take a look at the elastic cuffs, they appear to look black. Maybe it is the black A-2 USW offers? :-k
Here's some pics:

No it says dark brown, but I actually saw the cuff color too and was hoping that meant the color was off

If anything, you can rub it down with acetone to take some of the color off.

I bought Indy89 goat skin jacket and it black....Just kidding it's brown held it to a black jacket and it's defintily brown. In some lighting it really shows up brown. It's just a real dark brown, not seal brown,I have a wings A-2 seal brown and it's a differnt shade of brown. :o that is alot of times saying brown.

does goatskin have a smooth shiny look when viewed from 3+ feet away? or does it look pebbly?

Does anyone remember Ripley's jacket from Aliens? is it the color like ethat?
