The most SA wested raiders jacket since the film!
Hi guys.
let me just say that Peter still rocks with the raiders jacket.forget all raiders jackets you have seen posted by me.this here is by far the most SA raiders wested I have ever seen since the film.
today I picked up my replacement jacket made after my specs.the spec sheet was a huge list of new specs.these specs almost changed the complete standard pattern from wested...almost..
But I am going to say is that I am 100% convinced that the original film jacket had a ''longer'' collar. the collar on my jacket is spot on to what you see on screen.I have pictures to illustrate this....
also I asked for the strongest thread in the shop..well did I get that.I had a long lose thread hanging still on the jacket.I cut it off and I tryed to tear well..forget about it..the thread cut into my fingers almost when trying to tear it..this is STRONG.
the seams on this jacket is so incredible well done and it has reinforced stitching everywhere.everywhere I say!
now I am very curious about what agent5 G,and chris_King have to say about this jacket.
the front of the jacket.notice the bigger neck opening.rounded stormflap with collar placed half way between zipper and edge.the pockets are placed 2'' from hem.
the backpanel is also tweaked.its more narrow with less tapering.the straps are higher placed on the jacket.X-box stittching and black tri glide.the yolk is a SA high yolk.
the backarm seam is placed 1.25'' below the yolk.also see that the backpanel is lined up with the yolk seams.(its not meeting the yolk)the jacket has small gussets aswell..
pocket: 6.75x 7.75. Flap with the SA curve and straighter corners
now on to the collar.
as I said I am convinced that the original collar had a longer length to it.
STANDARD Wested collar compared to Fords collar.
my new collarlength made after my specs.
and this
I wll get some more outside pictures of me wearing it..these are just to show the details..but what I can tell you..is that it is the most well fitting jacket for me.it fits like a glove.

now the trick is for peter to KEEP these specs on file so everyone can enjoy them. peter? please?
folks, i know how hard this was for eric to spec out. it would be a shame if other stitch nazi's had to start from a clean sheet again
that collar is beautiful my friend. are you planning to do any distressing?

I'm going to guess that it's much stronger then lamb because its goat even though it's as soft. If that's the case, I hope I end up with that!
And I wonder if they'll see this and continue with the tough thread? It would only make sense. It would make so many more customers happy and save them time and effort.

The leather is too smooth. It should be reminiscent of dinosaur hide.
Just kidding, Holt, it's a beautiful jacket, you are the spec master! I'm convinced about the collar. Could you do me a favour and get a photo of it zipped up to the height it starts at in the Raven Bar?
Very well done, Holt, and Peter!

That's as good as it gets right there.
Nothing will ever convince me that the "dragged through #### and back" leather that the Nowak jackets are made out of, are as good and as durable as that.
Wow. I'm SO jealous. That's a nice freakin' jacket.
So... What exactly did you ask for, as far as material? This isn't their regular goat, nor is it their washed goat? It's "Soft Goatskin"?
I may have to be calling Peter, to see if they've even started on my jacket yet. Hmmmm...

(excusing egg jokes!) This is evident on the Todd's as well.
what kind of buckles are those holt?
the buckles are black tri glide.
pretty SA IMO.they are also placed higher then normal standard height from wested.
and no my friend..no distressing at all..just normal wear and tear.I mean with such a quality hide and quality stitching with a good strong thread,it just screams wear me over the next 20 years to come...beat me up!

For my money that looks like a winner as far as quality made Raiders jackets go, nice collar modification. The pocket is really "sweet" looks as good as the Tony Nowak!..and those buckles where did those come from, gracious. Think I'll shoot you a personal message or...TWO. Just kidding.

yes there are more details then just the pockets and collar.
its the whole sleeve cut to,different cut.... and I wanted the backpanel to be cut with less tapering.and it is narrower at the top too..
the top shoulders are cut pretty full, but the chest has less room, about 3.5'' of movement room...pluss it has a really tapered waist. THIS must be the 80'a cut...
the pleats are 1.5''
the back length is 25''

hehe..that was great..this is exactly the effect I want to have when opening the thread.Browncoat wrote:Well with a thread title like that you kinda have to roll your eyes. But when you open the thread and look at the jacket...well...I have to agree!!
That is a #### FINE jacket. LOVE the look, specs and accurracy! Great job! I hope Wested has kept your specs on file.

Looking back through this whole thread, Holt, it seems (amazingly enough) pretty unanimous. I'm seeing a lot of unity here in regards to your jacket specs. I'm wondering if this will in fact be THAT elusive list of be-all, end-all Raiders specs.
If not solely because your jacket looks like a stitch Nazi's wet dream, but also because we're so darn tired of chasing our tails and need to finally agree on something.
Now, that may sound rather elitist but I, for one, want this headache-y Raiders perfection quest to be OVER!
I mean, we have a definitive ToD and CS after all. Call me an optimist but I say it's possible!
(And yes, before you all flame me, I'm all too aware that the Raiders production jackets differed GREATLY from one to the next. I'm simply talking about the notion of being closer to a spec-list that may finally *satisfy* all.)

waiting
Every day I hesitate in my ordering of a custom Wested leaves me feeling guilty, until I saw this. Holt, that is the jacket I'm ordering. I'm sure you have your specs tucked away, in a box, inside another box, but when you bring them out, we can't wait to see them!
The Goat looks marvelous. I can't wait to see more of it, and I love those pockets!
Holt, you teach us so much. You teach us all.

Okay now, really, how much did it cost? I know this might be an unpolite question but I know that there are many of us who would really like to know. I remeber Peter said (posted) somthing once about it was 185 BPD to do Erri's jacket (that is a great jacket erri). In the ballpark? If so I will sell all my swords to get one.
I know that the drape will be awsome, but i was thinking what if it was done in a very thick goat? Kind of a cross between the "real world adventrue" feel and the waterproof ability of goat. I mean even the thickest goat would still be pretty thin compared to HH or Moo hide.
One heck of a terrific jacket Holt. Leave it to a viking to figure out the sublime. I mean they did make the most beautiful pattern welded swords ever on the planet.
I sure hope Peter reads this thread.
I know you are a HH fan, so in the event that you should lose your mind and want to exchange it for one in HH...

Holt,
I think it looks pheonomenal. I'd love to see some pics of you wearing it from the front with an Indy shirt on so we can see where the jacket collar lays against the shirt collar. I've been waiting for someone to do this for some time now. I didn't want to be the test subject so I'm glad you took the plunge.
I concur that Peter should keep these specs for those who want a more accurate look. The longer collar was what they jacket has always been missing if you want to capture the film jacket all the way.

Must be something in the grass... the goat that G&B are using this year is much thinner and softer than in previous years.... very lamb-like!!coronado3 wrote:Yeah I think it is just his newest batch of goat.... It is much thinner than in years past.
but, HOLT, can you confirm that this is just the quality of the new batch and not a NEW OPTION? If it's just the most recent batch then we better get on Peter's case before it runs out
