Hey Kokopelli...

I told Steve I wanted a Raiders bash (no particular scene), and sent this picture I'd found to him so he could see what I was looking for. I told him he didn't have to nail the pic exactly, but that the style was what I was looking for. I also told him I didn't want the back of the brim to curve upwards.. I like the look when both the front and back of the brim curve down (even if it's not SA!).

Image

He nailed the look I wanted perfectly. I've since tweaked the brim a bit but he gave me exactly what I asked for.

The turned down brim was used in some scenes. Its SA.

The Waiting is the Hardest Part

Post by Kim Hoffman »

But it can always be worse. I had no idea how many Indy collectors were out there! I'm a bit old, 57, but only recently discovered that the fedora, jackets, and other necessities could be had. A co-worker of mine pointed this site out to me.

I have a number of custom made hats, mostly western style, and the work time on the hat is always a good while. Tom Hirt will say 3 to 4 months, but it's always closer 6 or more months. Same with Rand. Kevin O'Farrell of both O'Farrell and Canyon Road Hats, in Santa Fe, generally takes a while. Jackson Hole Hats have been quick. Depends on how busy they are. But, as in the study of archeology, time and patience are usually your primary tools.

Good luck and happy hatting

I ordered June 5th.
Was told it would be made in August.
Sent 3 emails over the past 3 weeks just checking to make sure it didn't go out and was somehow lost in the mail...
No reply from Adventurebilt.
Uh oh.

Yeah, definitely. Sorry if you misunderstood, DU, but Steve's wait times have been year-long for a while now - he most likely did mean August of '09.

Don't fret though - it's all part of the experience. It'll take a while for you to get your hat, yes, but when you do, it will really be a treasure. I'd advise that you sit back and forget about the hat - it really does make the wait time easier. -M

this is GREAT news!
because I want to change my order from Raiders styling to the Crystal Skull Styling and let them know I moved!
Now if I could only get an email back.

I'm soon above to be 14 months wait. I'd never contact Steve about this, cause I didn't want to bother him.
But I've just sent an email last week just to check he has the right address (I moved last February), but I had no reply...

I would send him another e-mail becuase its right around the time where you should be receiving your AB and you should make sure Steve has the proper address. Try sending him an e-mail from a different e-mail address and also try calling, though the long-distance charges for you might be more than you'd want to spend, but its worth it for peace of mind.

20 Months?!!! That can't be right. Correct me if I am wrong, but looking at the list on page one, it appears that some people that ordered the same size you did, AFTER you did, have already received theirs. If that is indeed accurate, then I do not think you would be out of line in asking that your order be given some sort of priority.

Yeah Blues, I certainly would have spoken to Steve about this a couple months ago. There has to be some reason why you haven't received your hat and it ain't the regular wait time.

Unfortunately, I need the money more than I need an AB so I had to cancel my order.

I'm just waiting for Steve to get back to me, he hasn't replied to my e-mail I sent last week and a recent PM.

Hopefully I can get one again in the near future.

I was a late order, April 2008...so I doubt he has even touched my page in his book.

Yours looks a bit overdue, compared to others on list?

I'm thinking mine will arrive in Jan (9/16/07 order).

Trust me, fellas. I've learned alot since being a member here over the last 5 years,...and one of the things I've learned the most is not to cause a ruckus with the vendors.
I prefer to let that sleeping dog lie, if you catch my drift. I've seen too many deals go bad. Steve promised me a replacment, and all the folks who've dealt with him already said that he will fulfill that promise,....so
I'll wait.

I don't think the "list" has been updated in quite a while. If someone wants to make the effort of updating and relisting it, it might be worthwhile.

There haven't been many people posting that they got theirs. In this thread, anyway. If I missed anybody, please shoot me a PM.
If someone would like to take the list over, that would be fine as well.
I have a lot of real world stuff going on, that has been "distracting", to say the least. If someone takes it over, just make sure you keep me in my rightful spot,..at the top of the list. ;-)

I never posted it but I ordered mine 12-20-07. I can't remember but I think I asked Steve to use his judgment and bash it anyway he wanted. I have been wearing a Banjo _, my JPD and going back and forth between 2 Art Fawcett masterpieces. When my AB shows up soon it will be a challenge to get it into the rotation (but I will).

Mine was ordered November 11, 2007. I appears that it will still be a few months....sigh....but worth the wait.

Did you order this year, or last year? If you ordered March of this year, it's highly unlikely you'll get it before the New Year. Just take a look at the list in the first post, see when people ordered, and when they received theirs. It will give you an idea of the wait time.

Hate to disappoint you, but you probably won't see it until Feb-Mar, maybe later. It all depends on Steve's backlog, and 58 cm is a pretty common size. I'm still waiting on mine (60-61 cm), and it's been almost 15 mos.

Alright, so I ordered mine at the beginning of August way back in 2007. I can hardly believe that it's been SIXTEEN MONTHS, and I get more excited by the day. Do you guys think I'll get the white box by Christmas? Or should I just check with the man himself? I'm geeking out here!
