Looking for a different hat UPDATED WITH PICS

Post by Gunk »

I'm looking for a fedora that's indy style/color but smaller brim...I want something I can wear just messing around

Just like this:

I'm looking for something JUST like Michael J Fox's hat in Back to the Future 2. It's a fedora, with a nice short brim (not too short) and a tied bow ribbon around the crown. Even has a bash. Would love to get one like this in Indyish colors and even navy blue

Are you after something with the same crown height and a raw edge? If so, you could always get an Akubra Federation and have the brim trimmed down. Just a thought if you're still after something Indyish...

Actually, I think Akubra makes a couple similar to that. If not, try shopping for Dobbs hats. That is very much the sort of thing they tend to make.

Also, Duanne at thefedorastore.com has a "design-a-hat" section. You'd be getting a Beaver Brand with options you select, priced somewhere between an off-the-shelf and a custom. Duanne is good about communication via e-mail, so he can answer any questions.

I wear my Indy fedora when I'm just "messing around" and I've noticed no ill effects...

I ordered an Akubra Hampton in Cruiser Grey from hatsdirect
But since it was a special order, I had to wait 3 months to get it.

Last week, Jenny from hatsdirect wrote to me, to tell me they sent my hat, so I should get it this week.

If you want I can post some photos so you can have an idea about the hat.

Very interesting. You've succeeded in finding a hat that I like the ribbon trim around the brim. :o

I like this hat a lot, it suits me better than the Fed.

Nice hat! Looks good! About the feather, I say: "Loose it" - just my opinion!

I already take it off after my mother ask me if I was going to guard sheeps in the mountain
It's better without it, more "fashion" :P

On those smaller style hats I actually like the taper.
