Getting ready to order a Wested TOD

So I'm getting ready to order a Wested TOD. Is EVERYTHING SA or is there anything I should ask for specifically to make it MORE SA?

my friend..sorry for saying this..but Peter went thru a big deal of problems to get a hold of this original jacket.take my word for it..

when he finally got it..he copied the exact pattern of the orignal tod..

so WHY do you think that there are some allternatations needed to make it SA..it is more then SA.it is IT ;-)

just order it allready!

No one has one yet. What we have seen is Noel Howard's jacket, and the prototype that Peter made. The prototype looks pretty much spot on like Noel's, minus the distressing of course, so I doubt you'll need to ask for anything special at all. Just be sure to get then length right.
Peter mention the original was a size 40 with a back lenght of 26 inches.

Ok great- Should I get authentic brown lamb, Dk brown lamb, authentic brown goat, or authentic washed goat and what liner should I get?

I would go for the DK lamb.

for more durable stuff...I would have new finish goat and let it distress naturally..

I really am not such a huge fan of the pre aged/washed hides.

No choice on the liner. Peter's using whatever the hero jacket had. It's nylon if I recall.

I was thinking about Dk lamb too. I don't like to have my jackets pre distressed either- I like to do it myself

So the Dk Lamb is the best, right
?

I've been all over the map on this one as far as leather goes. First, I was going for the dk lamb because I've seen a Wested dark lamb and I really liked it. Nice color and the "creaking" sounds as it moved was great. But I'm already going to have a couple of lambs when everything's said and done so I decided to go for something else.

I was then all set for the washed goat. This a fantastic looking hide right out of the package and it will start to age well in only a few wearings. And this was what eventually stopped me. If it looks like it's aged a few years in a few months, what is it going to look like in a few years?

So I finally decided on the regular goat hide. With the several glued areas on this jacket, I'll probably forgo my normal wash method (this might be just fine to do, but why take chances?) and use a little alcohol to knock down the shine. After that, it will be just normal wear and tear.

wasnt Noels jacket auth. brown? I remember seeing the underside of the pocket flap and it looked like the original color was the lighter brown?

I'm a big fan of both the drak brown and authentic brown lamb from Wested.
I've ordered my Temple jacket in authentic brown, and I'm glad.
I've been wearing my authentic brown lamb a lot since it got it's new pockets, and it's wearing in wonderfully. Once the shine is gone, the authentic brown is the better colour, in my opinion. Out of the box (or bag), the dark brown was nicer at first though.

I asked which would be best to duplicate the original leather, Authentic Brown or Dark Lamb, and was told

You would be best to go with the authentic brown lambskin.

I think that the buckles have been newly sourced and will be available on all jackets. The original hardware for the first 60 or so referred to snaps and zippers if I remember correctly.

I also went with dark lamb.. and since Peter said that orders would be leaving by the end of last week, I've been checking my emails constantly..

Good choice I have a regular goathide wested and I like the hide, especially once you've gotten it wet. I think it looks alot like the colour we see in the movies.

That makes me feel better. I've been sweating the hide for this jacket more than even usual.

For a ToD jacket, I would definitely go with the Dark Brown Lamb. As it ages, it looks more like ToD than anything I've seen so far.
