Top Hat Question

Post by AnubisScales »

:? I wasn't sure if this should go here or on Lao Che's table, but I figure it would be best to ask all the hat gurus around here... :[

:-k Anyone have any good sources for top hats? Does one of our famous fedora makers make one? I'm looking for a decent black one (as tall as it will go without being silly... stovepipe, perhaps?), either fur felt or silk. :-s

Thanks in advance!

Hats Direct, distributors of the Akubra Federation IV, has a fur felt top hat listed on their website:

There's a greater selection on Christy's website, both wool and fur felt:

I am curious, what is the need for a top hat? I love them, but look like heck in them. But, that is me. I will take a bit of time and look around for you...just interested in your interest for one...that is all. Let us all know if you find one and post pics when you do! Thanks...have a great day! W>

How is it going to be worn, and with what era of attire? That will determine what kind and shape of top hat you need. Also, do you have a budget in mind for it?

Like my fedora, if I had one, it would be frequently worn. I know that sounds odd, but still. I like the Akubra price range, but the Christy's hat looks great... just, there's no price tag.

What do you plan on wearing it with? I guess I'm picky, because if I'm going Victorian, I'd wear one style; Edwardian, another; and 1920's and beyond, something different, still!

This was shot the day Michaelson aquired his top hat. So was the fat cat.

THIS though, is the ultimate Akubra top hat:

Fit for any occasion, but especially fun at PETA meetings.

Made with pure love, I'm sure.

It has good representation from all the animal groups.

Is your PETA a One-Of-A-Kind wonder, or is it available for other animal enthusiasts?

It's not mine, I just tried it on at a very large Akubra display booth at the Calgary Stampede. Despite it being so large, there were no fedora-like hats there.

Oh well, I can't buy anything right now, any way. It just looks like a cool one to me.
