Finally cracked my Joe Strain!

Post by Chewbacca Jones »

Well, weather and timing has kept my brand new Strain whip nestled in it's bag for a couple of weeks. Today, however, the temperature reached a bearable 40f, the ground was dry, and the whip came out to play.

I noticed some strange differences compared to my experiences with the IAOB I have. Firstly (and most oddly), I cracked the Strain much more easily while wearing gloves than bare handed... the complete opposite of what happens with my IOAB.

Second, the Strain is louder!

Third, some cracks are harder to do, or at least take an adjustment in my style. I expected that. But some are actually easier, which surprised me. Particularly the SoC crack and my off-hand use. :-k

Finally, both are 8 footers, and the Strain feels lighter in my hand, but I tire more quickly. It feels like more of a workout.

Needsless to say, I like.

Chewbacca, good thing you finally got to crack your Strain. And even greater that you are one of the many of Joe's happy customers!!! I think very few emotions beat the one of using something so dear to you for the first time.

Isn't it annoying to be unable to use your whip when weather isn't right? :x I mean, I usually crack my whip at night in the living room, but you tend to get bored when just doing an overhand flick.

All the best,

Aldo.

Congratulations on your Strain and finally being able to really see what it can do. I got mine in late September and I feared that the weather would not be cooperative. Fortunately the fall season here in Spain has been really mild and dry so far. Just helping those last leaves off the the trees with a thundering crack makes for a great afternoon :whip:

Congrats on cracking your Strain (as opposed to the other way arouond loll...).

Well your Strain may actually be close to Adam's (though I've never held an IOAB), I assume that because Adam's whip is made from cowhide which is a bit heavier than kangaroo, it's possible that they are close in weight.

Yes, please do post pics, I LOVE to see new whip pics :-)
Cheers,

Franco
