Hey guys,
I'm not sure this belongs here...but, I've got a vintage cowboy hat that one of my students gave to me that I want to be transformed into a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western inspired hat. It doesn't have to be exact SA, I just want a cool hat inspired by those movies.
I basically want it repounced, a liner put in, a nice sweatband put in and if possible and not too cost prohibitive I would like it to have a ribbon bound edge. Anybody got suggestions for anyone who could tackle this for me? I certainly appreciate yall's help! ;-)
Heres a pic of what I got.
And here's what I want...close to it anyways.

I agree with Chewie and everyone else that has stated similar thoughts. However, if you do want to repounce the hat and add a new liner, I'd go with Penman. I don't know how much Oak would charge for a pouncing, but I'd imagine its more than you'd want to spend as it is a timely process.Chewbacca Jones wrote:Actually, I think the "before" picture makes a perfect Clint hat as is! Just throw on the band and you're done.

That hat is AWESOME! I love the look of it - it looks well used, well loved, and a lot like (to me anyway) a good Clint Eastwood hat. And actually, it could be a good Marty McFly BTTF 3 Clint Eastwood hat, too!
Throw some kind of cool leather band on there, get a liner and sweat put in, and leave the rest alone!!
Awesome hat, Hollowpond!!

Try turning it. Put it on your head and turn it to the right, rearrange the top, until you see reverse taper in the sides like this- The top of a hat is longer front to back than side to side. The more you turn it, the more reverse taper in the sides you'll get. Note- The side view of Clint's hat has a lot of taper in back.

Thanks guys! I think I will leave the felt alone. (especially after seeing the pic posted by 3 thousand $!!) I also think I won't bind the edge after yall's response. I do, however, want a sweat and a liner in there. This blended fur is pretty thick and not too comfortable up against your noggin!! I'll probably just throw the knudson hat band on this sucker and be done. I guess I'll throw Penman Hats a pm and see if he can do it.
