Wested Washed Goat ROLA custom, 42 L

Post by Clutters »

So I've had this, my first Indy jacket for a little over a week and I have worn it every day.
Specs: as ordered
Washed Goat ROLA 80s pattern
42Long
Sleeves 25.5 inches (amended to 25.75)
Inside leather facings, cotton lining, satin sleeves and a brass zipper that does not extend all the way to the bottom of the jacket (these features for durability)
One piece gusset
D-rings (amended to rectangular sliders)

Specs: received
All of the above, but for
Got a rounded top storm flap, no complaints
Got 26 inch sleeves, useful.
D-rings, not rectangular sliders. Oh well. Order placed with strapworks.com

When I first got it, it fitted like a leather tent. I am 41 inches around the chest, and six foot one. I ordered a 42 Long, but in the 80s fit hoping that this would combat excess bagginess... it didn't. It had more than the two extra inches around the chest that the ROLA usually have. The shoulders were 7 inches, the back length was 27 inches and it just looked wrong. Plus there is a big crease down the middle of the back. I came pretty close to returning it which would have been difficult as a custom. At two am on Thursday morning, while I was trying it on again, my wife even suggested that I just order another one (with some colorful language about going to sleep as well).

So what do you think?

the jacket and fit looks really good..but why the ???? did they use darker hide on the pockets???

get some pecards and darken the jacket up so the pockets will blend out more...

I see what you mean about the oversizing.I dont know whats going on with the wested sizings..

an 80's fit should have 2'' at the most in extra chest room.
a reg should have 4'' of chest room.I asked peter about this a year back..and that was what he told me..

the jackets come a little oversized.

like my 44 ''80's'' had 25'' across chest when zipped...it should have 24''
24'' makes the jacket 4 inch bigger then chest size.thats the correct millitary specs for a jacket...they are not that at all.

the special rola jacket an the of the rack jackts from wested outsourced from India has the correct specs..the handmade in theUK has not. why? I dont know.....

That's the exact jacket I've been considering purchasing from Wested for some time now. Glad to see another 42 Long. If you ever consider purchasing a new jacket, I'll gladly take that one off of you.

Looks great now! Can't wait to see when the pockets blend in a little better.

Do you have any before pictures?

Are those special pocket specs? They look pretty accurate in size.

Nope no requests for the pockets - but they came pretty close to the Agent 5 measurements, like, within a few millimetres.
