New guy saying hello - with pics (i hope)...

Post by Jakob Emiliussen »

Hi Everybody

I'm new here. I just thought I'd introduce myself in a more proper way. I've been posting on different topics around the forum, just to get acquainted with the place - sort of getting used to the climate. You all seem like a lovely bunch, and I really like the tone you've established here.

I just thought the best way to introduce myself was by posting a pic of me in my present gear. So, here goes:

Image

The hat is a "The Henry" from Adventurebilt - I've just bashed it lightly, but I think is has the right looks for now.

The jacket is a wested, raiders style in horsehide (size 40 regular)

Shirt and pants is also from wested.

The bag (which is not visible in this picture - sorry) is an original issue MKVII and the strap is from Todd's

It all needs a good "rolling in the sand", but I only got the hat tuesday and it's getting a little cold here in Denmark, so the jacket is not getting used as much as I would like.

Well, thats all for now.

All the best
Emiliussen

PS: That's a Wilson Football behind my head, not the hat - the hat looks quite normal :)

Great looking jacket. Peter and Co. really seem to be getting more consistant nowadays. I hope they keep it up.

Thank you, all three of you... Yeah, I need a gunbelt, a holster, a whip, boots and a gun - but then I'm set to go :)

Yeah - the jacket is the pride of my collection so far - I think it's quite SA for raiders...

I've been looking for a good whip from the EU - it's simply too expensive to import one... Thanks alot!!

And HH has the rigt feel - it's heavy and durable. Makes you feel like a real adventurer... :)

Yeah, I hate the feel of the lamb jackets... I know it is what they used for the films, but if Indy Jones were a real person, he would have worn cow, goat or horse! He was not into fashon but wore tough working clothing while in the field.

Here are a couple of european whip makers that specialize in Indy whips:

Giovanni Celeste in Italy
giowhips.altervista.org

Pagey Whips in Austria
pageywhips.com

Both have had great reviews around here.

Those are very nice links - now, if only I could find 450 EUR (that's about $570 if I'm not mistaking) somewhere :-k

Welcome to the madness of costuming. Screen accurate and functional Indy gear is no less expensive than getting a custom made costume for other movie characters. Many folk end up with multiple hats, jackets, shirts and pants. You have now surrendered your wallet to Indy gear pursuits.

Well, don't we all :) As a matter of fact, I've already run it through Photoshop, but that was just to correct the brightness and contrast, and to get rid of red eyes...

Welcome to COW. You have some very nice gear.

You mentioned it was getting cold in Denmark, how cold? I have a Novapelle hide that I have been wearing now that it has turned cold and it keeps me very warm. I thought the HH was even a heavier and warmer leather to wear than Novapelle?

Thank you - all of you... I feel very welcom(ed) :) I'm sure I'll fit just right in.

How cold you ask, well, yesterday we had snow - wasn't for long but it was there. It's just about freezing in the daytime and well below at night. Yeah, HH is quite warm, and I've started to use a muffler which helps a bit... I guess it all comes down to the layering - the number of shirts you have underneath your jacket.

Thanks again for your warm ( ) reception.

Emiliussen
